Not a tech. I do warranty for Paccar, Cummins & Caterpillar :) I see all of the failures as they happen, both emissions related and non-emissions related.

From what I am gathering from all that I am reading on this forum and others is that if you have an emissions truck and service it according to the maintenance program for that truck, address issues as they arise and actually learn how to operate the truck and understand how it works, you should be ok and hopefully be able to drive 500,000 miles without a tow like one member posted.

I am looking at a 2011 Pinnacle CXU613 and I have to say I was hesitant at first but the more I learn, the more I see, a lot of issues can be avoided or mitigated. With an emissions truck, attention to detail is vital.. Short cuts will just lead to and expensive headache.

Well the IH with a maxforce really held its value. Thinking about buying 3. Cause ill make a profit when I sell them.... lol. I have a 2000. Everything except frame and interior is rebuilt over time. I can afford to put frame rails in over a new truck payment.

There is a reason your starting to see old cab overs on the road almost everyday. If a person can buy a truck cash and then refurb it for the same price these new engines cost. Then why get a Fitz Glider?

Prices have gone up for gliders in the past few years, but that is because they have become very popular because of emission issues in new trucks.
I would disagree with you on resale, i looked for a year or more for a Kenworth or Peterbilt day cab, the ones that were available " not many" were avg 2 to 3 years old and priced aprox 10 to 15 percent under what they cost when they were new.
