I went to USX orientation a few years ago and was not very impressed...they have all auto shift fleet...which i didn't like to much also like said in other posts can make it hard to get employment other places....trucks had alarms all over it so when u get to close to something it starts making a racket...good idea in thought i guess but i thought that what mirrors were for and they go off every time u go under an over pass....did not even have me back during my driving test which really worried me since that is where most drivers have problems...This was in Oklahoma City so not sure about other locations...I myself would not work there but this is just my oppinion...good luck with whatever choice you make though and be safe out there

hey joshmck1982, you will here alot of things about any company you look at both good and bad. Keep that in mind as you search. i have worked with usxi for a lil over five years now and am actually about to leave them but its only cause i got a really good local offer. Bottom line is they have been good to me and my family. The things i have seen here posted about the automatics somehow making it hard to go somewhere else are totally not true. if you can shift now you will be able to later if you decide they are not for you. Things that i have seen here that are true, they have brought some solos in and given them a choice to team lease or go home. The determining factor on that is soly based on where they live. Some areas are harder than others to get folks home and it is purely a profitablility issue for them right now. Imagine that a company wants to make a profit. Thats why we all came to the dance. I dont have this first hand but i have heard that all the students they have in there system right now are being told they will have to team. Again a move to keep them profitable in tough times, i personally dont think i would like it but thankfully i dont have to make that choice. Next they are being very picky about who they hire these days, make sure you have all your ducks in a row. They are a good company but like with all large companies there will be a learning curve to the system. they have good fleetmanagers and bad just like everyone else. The big thing i learned was how to push them and not let them push me. I cant tell you how to do that but it basically involves staying on top of your fm and getting what you want. Communication is the key to success. i wish you luck and hope it works out for you. i will say they have top notch equipment. but then that dont pay your bills either now does it.

It's not really an issue now. I got pre-hired with Gordon Trucking out of Pacific, Washington, which is the one I was really hoping for. So, USX is kinda on the back burner now.
