I've been reseaching becoming a driver for a couple of months and have made the decision to move forward. Because I live in Illinois with their licensing issues I plan on attending a local school. Either Eagle or A.T.S Professional.
I am looking for information on Pre Hire letters, do you apply directly to each company? How far in advice should I apply and how far out are the pre hire letters valid.
Thanks in advance
Bram

Pick out e few of these and get them to send you prehire letters.
There are a few decent companys on that list -
You have to apply on there web sites just like any other job,pre hire letters does not mean a job offer it just means you been approved to attend orientation, once at orientation that's when they check all your work history etc,pre hire means your app looks good for there standards and you have issue pretty much all the info needed to more forward to next stages. Now not all companies work like that the good trucking companies will tell you up front if your good to go,Swift,Werner,CR England will send you a pre hire and then make you sit in orientation 1-3 days or what ever how long there orientation class is and then they will tell you if your hired or not.I know Swift and Werner does that all the time.

Yes, it almost isn't worth the trouble of going to an unknown city just to get told that you're hired or not. And if you're not hired, some companies don't pay for your ticket back home. That's what I'm fighting right now. Whether or not to go to orientation or not. I need a job true enough, but you need at least $300 in your pocket just in case they refuse your employment.
