Pre-hire letters

    It is understandable the workforce rules would be so. I know I would not want to finance someone just so they can go spend a few weeks getting something they won't use. I know a guy right here near my home that used a workforce grant to get a CDL then just sit on it. Today he is back in a Federal Halfway house. So absolutely I understand this.

    One thing that people fail to understand though is a driver is not officially hired until they are handed a fuel card and either assigned a Truck or to a trainer. With most carriers, this does not happen until said driver completes orientation. This is why a pre-hire letter is worthless. They are not legally binding and you have no legal remedies if the said letter is withdrawn. I am surprised the workforce people have not already seen this years ago. If you need one then get it. The thing though, at least in my opinion is this should be the school's responsibility. In fact, if this school you are interested in does not have a robust placement office RUN LIKE HECK!
