Starting rate for teams is 32 cents divided by 2 = 16 cents for all miles the truck rolls. Solo pay is 26 cents per mile, then they add on fuel economy bonus, but I think that's after one year you get that.My son gets $100 per month tuition reimbursement. He's only been solo for one week now,his biggest run so far has been 950 miles, but first he had to do a few shorter ones.

He hasn't even driven a full week yet .Since he tested out and they didn't have a truck he got $141 one week ,then $176($100 of that was student reimbursement),layover pay waiting for his broken down assigned truck to be fixed(they give you some thing that just came in off the road and it's up to you to make sure it's roadworthy;bear in mind the days in the shop you only get paid $20 per day.So he finally got rolling 4/6 got a few short runs, then 960 miles to Omaha Termimal;there he sits again waiting for his truck to be serviced and waiting to see if he still has a job because safety says he braked too hard at a stop sign in the terminal. They could tell him to watch a training video or send him home, some high up muckety muck has to review his incident, they make him wait overnight to tell him,if he has a job(he's only getting 20 a day again) There is no way he could stay with them if he had a family to support, even as a single guy he's just had enough $ to survive on these past 3 months. If he can get out of Omaha alive and get rolling again he might make some $,time will tell.

Once he gets his truck squared away, advise him to avoid company terminals

    whenever possible.

They are nothing but a large pain in the rump !!!!!

Sounds great, I believe you're making a good choice. I am a GTI driver and I can say this. They have a written policy for home time and they work to meet your requested time off. They are flexible about your time out but expect at least 2 weeks for 2 days. If you have any other questions about GTI feel free to PM me. Good Luck!!

    Zoltan1a Thanks this.

Congratulations and good luck! Good thing you didn't go with Werner. My son got sent home after 14 weeks on 48 states with no hometime. Just when he got assigned a truck and was ready to start making some halfway decent $ they fired him for braking too hard. I started a thread about it called Werner the rumors are true in the report a bad company section. He's a go getter and will have a new job by next week. So best of luck at Gordon Take Care!

I wonder what the whole theory behind their methods are. Did they overhire and need to dump a few, did they use him to work that time and had intentions of laying him off well before the braking incident? The situation sounds ridiculas

Yes they overhire ;check the post #81 by Robertw in the Thread: discuss your favorite company. He says Werner pushes 700_ 1000 new hires per week through Lakeland FL,Lithia Springs Ga,Springfield Oh, Omaha NE, Fontana Ga, Allentown,Dallas,Indianapolis,Denver,Portland & Arizona. That's a lot of new hires and it's not because they have that much new business or buy 8,400-10,000 new trucks every year. It's fresh meat going to the slaughter house,if you don't quit, they have to find a reason to fire you to keep their driver mill churning.
