Doesnt matter if the trailer says Walmart... we are still pulling a dry van. Ive pulled them too. Boy are they POS. The Walmart reefers were nice, although the soft walls and "zone temp" settings were a pain in the butt.
If I remember correctly the "V" series Prime trailers used for the special FedEx container loads have no reefer units on them either. Someone may correct me on this but I think those trailers specifically run just between Newark and Dallas.Last edited: Jan 7, 2012
mje Thanks this. -
I was kinda disappointed that I hadn't gotten an offer from Prime this week. I talked to my recruiter on Tuesday and things had sounded really positive. But then I went all week without hearing anything. Well, I talked to her again today, and apparently the problem isn't on Prime's end. It is the employer I recently resigned from. Apparently they're refusing to verify my employment for Prime. My recruiter said they've called and faxed and my former employer won't respond, and now when Prime calls them, they just hang up on Prime. I'm sure not impressed with that. Fortunately, I have a complete copy of my personnel file from this place, so I should be able to furnish Prime with copies from that and hopefully that will work to verify my employment.
Anyway, that's my latest update. Guess we'll see how things go from here. Life is always an adventure.mje Thanks this. -
I also had a slight delay with the employment part. I am self employed and hand two part time jobs. They where clients, that decided to put me on their payroll for tax purposes. The person in personnel for one part time job was never in the office (The woman must have had 40 weeks of vacation; no matter when I called during the five years that I was there that was the answer LOL). The second employer gave up the business and moved to Florida. My recruiter had me send copies of my contractors license all of my 1099s and W2s and a copy of my last pay stub from each of the two employers. She ran them up the flag pole and said it was acceptable. I dont know if they ever heard from either employer, but during the paper work process at Prime they said everything was in order.
I hope they straighten this out for you. -
In terms of vans... they got 'em, we pull 'em.
"V-series?" Never seen one.
Did you part that employer on good terms? If you can, contact them and see if you can smooth things over.mje Thanks this. -
They are probably the oldest trailers we have. They are designed to hold air cargo containers... When I say designed, it's just the floors allow them to roll on, and there are floor securement mechanisms.
I've pulled one as a trainee. Ive seen them as recently as this year at the terminal.mje Thanks this. -
I was under the impression that we had parted on good terms. There were things going on there that I just couldn't be a part of, so I turned in my two week notice. I had another job lined up at that point. My boss asked me where I was going and we had a decent conversation. The next morning I got a call from my new employer. Evidently my boss had called them, told them I was a terrible person and employee, and as a result of that they were rescinding their offer of employment, 2 days before I was supposed to start. So I guess it doesn't surprise me that they're yanking me around on this too. I guess the moral of that story is never trust anyone. I am friends with my former boss's boss, so I will probably get in touch with him and just see if he'll get the verification done.
Good to know Prime will work with you on other documentation, too, because it sounds like some carriers won't. I know everybody says not to trust a recruiter and not to judge a company by what they say, but so far I have been absolutely impressed with Prime and I feel like my recruiter has been completely honest and transparent with me. I've talked to some other recruiters, and I already see a difference with Prime. -
You could sue. Employers can be liable for any response other than whether they would or wouldn't rehire you.mje Thanks this.

I've been self employed since early 2011 and I've got most of the documents Prime has ask for, however a few of my clients paid me on payroll not 1099. But that's like for a day here or there... I just included that in my Self employment time frame as I did not think of it as part time work. How does prime view this? I hope they don't come back and say you're our cause you got paid W2 for 5 days of freelance work during your self employment and did not tell us.mje Thanks this.
