Congratulations on the job at Schneider! It will be an adventure for sure. It is truly a roller coaster of emotions starting something like this. Do follow all the rules at orientation, take everything seriously (because it is) and be like a sponge and absorb all that you can. You will have a lot of information thrown at you, some of what you never heard or experienced in you life. Just stay patient, take notes if you need to and learn everything that you can. While with your trainer listen to him or her and try to remain civil even if you get frustrated. Remember this is a short time and it will pass quickly. Best of luck and be sure to update as often as you are able to.

Look forward to giving strangers good rides in that tractor trailer. Own it. Giving rides is awesome. Red Sovine knows with that Teddy Bear.
As you young ones say Chill. The butterflies become raptors when you are taking on a western pass in a dead of a winter storm later.
If you did not have these flutters then you are not human. Enjoy. You are only newbie once. Before this old road wears it out of you.D.Tibbitt, Coffey and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -
I have a tendency to rush and try not to look stupid, so thanks for the advice haha I guess I'd look even more dumb if I had to make a u-turn, or hit something.
-
Getthereitis or rushing WILL cause you to fumble and run over something or someone. You just have to breathe and pause a second. Even if it means taking over a entire busy intersection for a second. You will be cursed out, honked, gestured etc. But everyone knows that you are either a off path GPS screw up or someone legitamately trying to get around.
I once got trapped downtown in Baltimore on the old Ellicot City road by a ginormous lamp post that was put there in the 1800's took me 30 minutes to trailer around the cursed thing. I have never been back there again. There is no reason for it. Playing with a semi truck downtown like that is just outrageous...Truckermania and Coffey Thank this. -
Me too. Own your space and use it as you need. The world will not end if a car sits for a minute. Car drivers react like you ate their children for the slightest delay. They are just users of the road like you. You are DOING your job.
I usually yield to everyone, which soothes my conscience, and then take all the time & space necessary to do my job.MYSTYKRACER, D.Tibbitt, farmerjohn64 and 2 others Thank this. -
Just wondering are you gonna pull van or tanker
farmerjohn64 Thanks this. -
-
Oh definitely do update. I have always been curious about their tanker division. I was food grade tanker with Prime and I loved it.tscottme, Coffey and farmerjohn64 Thank this.

The biggest pain is when you have to go with a trainer for a month or two dealing with their big ego and their farting all night. But its all worth it when you finall y get your own truck.D.Tibbitt, tscottme, Coffey and 1 other person Thank this.

You picked a decent company to start out with.
Coffey and farmerjohn64 Thank this.
