Just two. I wasn't aware NY didn't do prepass since we don't go there. Sorry if that came off wrong. Same with the logbook remark. That wasn't a high horse statement. Just saying that it's reckless to assume you're not being tracked at any state run facility, especially a weigh station. I do have a habit of making a mental note on schedule to scale alignment when checking my logs for errors LOL.

Our IRP covers roughly the right half of the US, but no states NY and beyond. I've traveled to NY and MA frequently in another industry, so somewhat familiar. I'm allergic to government BS so I won't put a commercial truck there any faster than I would California. The rest of New England is truck unfriendly enough they can be served by other carriers too. Another topic for a hijack opportunity.

There's states we travel in that don't use prepass. NC comes to mind. They have their own racket like WA. Can't win 'em all LOL. The good news is their scales tend to be solar powered like the rest of the states. I'll also validate what someone else already mentioned: in the states that have weigh-in-motion you're more likely to get a red light if you're heavy. Those scale pads in the highway are really only good to tell the scalemaster loaded or empty. I've checked a few on the prepass logs and they are off by tons. Literally. States with these that come to mind are LA and VA. FWIW, the greatest value I get from prepass is in LA. Since there's a scale on every corner, it can save a lot of time passing through.

I have the Oregon Green Light, I also have it set up with Nor Pass and Pre Pass. Works like a charm! The only down fall is you are time stamped in WA and OR. Even if the scale is closed and the transponder does not go off you are logged in. You can log in to Oregon Trucking Online to view your scale crossings, open or closed. Just sayin be careful runnin wild out this way! lol

I sure like mine, running out of Kalama,WA (exit 30 I-5) I pass the port of entry scale at Ridgefield,WA sometimes 3-5 times a day depending on what I'm doing.
Most of my loads go to or from Longview,WA, I also sometimes pass the Southbound at the 44mp near Castle Rock,WA a couple times a day or the Northbound and Southbound at Woodburn,OR.
Saves me a lot of time!

PrePass should give you a credit towards your bill for weighing an empty flatbed, but it doesn't.
The following PrePass scales DO NOT WORK, or are TURNED OFF.

    I 95, mm 153, North&South, VA
    I 81, mm 302, North&South, VA
    I 81, mm 150, South, VA
    All of North Carloinia
    All of Maryland
    I 75, South, GA

Yup. I hate it when I roll empty up to the Southbound coop leaving Charlotte, NC. They always turn the darn prepass off, and make even the empties come through to just point us to the bypass lane. I'll usually get on the CB and start telling DOT-jokes hoping they're listening. Of course, should they discover that it's a northern truck (a yankee) they'd red light me, and probably have me abducted and taken to a torture dungeon under the weigh station. Been running those lanes for a decade now, and it never ceases to amaze me the level of abuse and discrimination I get just because my plates are from a northern state. :( Hey Cleetus! I wasn't even alive during the civil war! Relax a little before you get butt hurt leaking out of your cab and onto the road way! (this is not directed at you boys here at TTR)

NC is on something called NCPASS. Total waste of money. I think the only ones using it are companies that only run in NC. Prepass does work on I81 in VA. I go through all the time.
