I am a certified state vehicle inspector and the pretrip looks to me like a safety inspection that you are required to get to get plates every other year here in Missouri. Would that be a correct assumption?

I would assume so. I have our local CMV imspectors check list and while the order and wording is different the items are the same.

Out of curiosity, how long would it take you to do a pretrip inspection like a Driver, including checking the slack adjusters by yourself?

    NavigatorWife Thanks this.

Doing a car normally took about 20 min or so but that included removing a wheel and setting it up on the rack and doing the computer entry. Never had a cmv come into the shop so slack adjusters and air brakes and trailers will be new for me.

Pilots of passenger jets have shorter pre trip inspections, just sayin.
