Curtis Bay MD ? That would've given you a fantastic corridor to run along, especially from the middle of it. To bad the job didn't work out. Sounds like you're right in the middle of car haul central. They should be knocking AT YOU DOOR !!

You have some great points , I just want to share my opinion .

As an employee of the aforementioned company some things just aren't right . So if cassens get 1.20/mile for the same freight why are you getting 50 per unit to drive 700 miles .

As far as car hauling goes , I'm my opinion this a good place to start but as you hone your skills there are other companies that will treat you better because they know the value of a car hauler

    25% of the truck

And 21% of the revenue of the load two different things

If you ask any O/o in SIA ( subrua lafeyette ) what they are getting paid vs what we get it's a

    Casseins is Union.
They drive junk too..hell the senior guys fight over the biggest POS to drive so they can collect breakdown money.
I have a buddy who pulls out of Twin Oaks PA for them.
You know the place where they tear off the toilet seat in the rest room all the time?!

PMTG is a great place to start..do your time and move on.
FleetCar is another place to make good money if you can get on with a good fleet owner.
    Yes I know they're scabs..aren't we all?!
    LOL!

I hammered when I was with PMTG..double loads a day out of Jersey City into Long Island and North Jersey.
AL took care of me because I ran like hell and kept my exceptions down.
When he was pissed at me off to New England I went..usually Boston area.
Reloading in Davisville RI back to Long Island.
I don't care for Caesar(PIZZA PIZZA) down at Dundalk formerly of Curtis Bay.

Car hauling is work..hell I pull a box now.
    Couldn't be happier.

    Roll on..

Nice well written response, and on topic. I can't argue any of your experiences. Obviously, you ran regional for PMTG and that is hard-work, thankfully we're not doing runs to Long Island anymore but, Boston is certainly no picnic either. As far as your experiences with Al and Cesar, I agree with you as well. Car-hauling IS work and long hours. Personally, I enjoy it and working into my 4th year and have no intentions of leaving soon.

I would never work for a trash outfit like pmtg. Why would you want to sleep in that small cabover every night and get treated like garbage. I would choose jack Cooper or cassens any day . I just could not load next to a guy knowing he's probably making 600$ a load and I'm getting 375$ lol that's insane

Contrary to some people's belief, not everyone wants to work for a union. Secondly, what you refer to as garbage or being treated as such is your opinion. Working for PMTG may not be the best company to work for but, it beats unemployment or hauling dry-van freight. Lastly, there will always be someone that makes more money, facts of life.

Other companies= Better Freight, Better Equitment, Better Pay

Even if jack cooper and cassens have crap equitment your gonna get paid 25 an hour as soon as you make the call till its fixed ,not 10.50 every 2 hours after the first 24 hours. Lets be serious

You have a right to work where ever you want and for however much you are happy with. I have worked in trucking for the last 27 years. My jobs in my opinion were and are some of the best paying trucking jobs and I never picked a job because it was Union or Non Union. Also you don't work for the union, you work for a company that has employees represented by the union. I picked the job because it payed the best I could find, got me home often, gave me great benefits and either got me home at night or day when working nights or payed for my hotel. Some drivers don't have the same priorities as me, so what is important to me may not be important to you. When I was looking to leave my 6 figure Union driving night shift job 3 plus years ago for a carhaul job, I spoke with non union and union companies. I found that I could do well with non union as far as pay, I could drive a newer truck, but I would be out for 2 weeks at a time. If I went the Union route I could make great money, drive an older well maintained rig, have great insurance free, have a pension, stay in hotels(some great and some not so great, but I have total control over which I stay in) and be home every other day or so. I chose Jack Cooper which has union drivers. I didn't choose Jack Cooper because they are union, I chose them because the job suited me better. If a driver wants a new Pete and to stay out for 2 weeks, Jack Cooper would not suit you. The best job I have ever had, Frito-Lay, which the drivers at our plant were not union. I took that job because of the great pay and benefits, not because it was non union. Had they not closed our plant I would still be there making $100,000 a year with 20+ years of seniority. My point is that just because a job is union or non union does not trump everything else. In my opinion a reasonable person would pick the job based on which one suited you and your families needs best. Not based on some pre-conceived notion of how good or bad a union or non union job is. If you like what you have you should stick with it, because the grass is not always greener on the other side. But don't keep from taking a job that might be better simply because it's union or non union and someone has told you that you shouldn't like one or the other.
