Joining two shafts adds to another connection to weakin and another to have issue with.. If he has 1 shaft to get coil above his roof and where its for the most part outta the wind stream he will be ok strength wise.. Will he get alot further out,who knows but it will help..
They sell male stud mounts. Just trying to give him some cheaper options than buying longer shafts and or new antenna's.
Ok so I did some tinkering and (jimmy rigging as some say and here's what I did. I had my Wilson with 10in shaft and had a old Wilson 5k with 10 in shaft on truck on top of the hose rack where it didn't ground and was just a wee bit too tall. Then I went over to some wrecked trucks here at Schneider location cause u all know they will tear some trucks up these professional drivers they are lol.. I found another Wilson 2k with 5in shaft. I then put them all together knowing it will still be too short, I did this cause I'm bored and not sitting in that tv room hearing them cry and wine bout stuff like they love to do. Well I still need a few more inches, so maybe the 22in shaft off eBay with The 5in added on might be perfect Idk, I need look or measure better I think. I do like what I have rte now though, I got my swrs down even better. I'm at a 1.1 on channel 1, 1.1 on channel 40 and it's almost 1.0 on channel 20, just a smudge off from being 1.0.. this is on a freight shaker also so that's pretty good swr readings. I'm just Useing my lil astatic meter though , the one in radio shows all swr 1.0 needle doesn't move they are so low
I guess my swr is a lil bit higher on channel 1 than 40 but it's getting so close I'm not sure I should fool with it anymore especially since I'm climbing on top of hose rack to play with it everytime
