LOL...
That's comical... Having to sacrifice being showered so you can park your truck. Getting rough out here.
-
And I thought I was the only one using the reserved spots for a 30 min break. LOL.
They should call the cops instead and also their company. That should do. If the driver isn’t in his truck, let the tow truck teach him a lesson. -
At least at TA/Petro, the reserved parking is not refundable.

No they don't. I've never seen anyone turned away because they overbooked. I've only seen it happen because the TA staff were afraid to go out and police the lot. I reserve a lot and I'd know if they were overbooking. In fact there are some truck stops I'd never go near without a reservation: TA-Seatle East and TA-Bloomsbury for instance.
They charge your card immediately when you book. They don't know if I actually used the space because I almost never go inside to check in. You don't have to. If there's a conflict they'll come out with a clip board listing every truck that they have a reservation for and walk the lot.
I've bumped people many times. It never ceases to amaze me how drivers will park in a reserved spot without paying. If it's a crowded lot you know the reserved spots are going to sell out. I pulled into the Petro in Laramie one time right after they had closed Elk Mountain. Every spot was taken and every reserved spot had a truck in it also. I checked the app and found there was one space unsold. I quickly bought it, then called the fuel desk and told them I couldn't find an open reserved space. They came out a bumped a guy. It's just astonishing how stupid people can be. -
I will venture to say 90% or more of reserved spaces are sold over the phone or online, at least 2 hours prior to their actual arrival, many probably before noon that day. The Northbend TA for example will sell out spots for Sunday nights, a week in advance typically.
So many morons arrive at 19:00 and see the spots empty and say to themselves " well, looks like they're not coming. Guess it'll be okay for me to park here". As if everybody operates EVERY DAY on the same 06:00-20:00 schedule they apparently doTb0n3 Thanks this. -
Right on, man. I, too, enjoy using those reserved spots for my breaks.

Happened to me ones in Pilot location,
Manager told me to park at fuel island, then he left trash can and tape "out of service" behind me, with warning that as soon as another truck will leave parking space, they will wake me up, and I will need to move into that open spot.
First and last time in my truck life I spend 6 hours at fuel island with 0 complains

I would have told them to go #### themselves about moving after I went to bed.dunchues, bzinger and EuropeanTrucker Thank this.

Look on it another way, they could just refund you you parking price and told you to get lost, and then you would get stuck with stupid HOS violation.
