Hi
Today i quit working for Premier due to the fact that they only give you 34hrs for your home time. They will keep you busy but the mileage is payed from zip code to zip code. or some call it direct miles. I was there for over 90days and was not being payed fot 235 miles that i drove becauce of this. You will be unloading freight as well to stores like homegoods tj maxx aj wright and the people in them stores are slow to work with. They also deliver loads for Tractor Supply. And also you will be waiting at all of the D.C,s with out pay cause they get you there to early and the loads are not ready to later in the day say 1630 or later Good Luck I my self im glad i QUIT.

I would also like to point out a couple more issues with Premier Transportation for the most part there tractors are ok but you will have to do your own cleaning of it when you 1st get it they do none of this. Also they have the tractors set by the Computer set way back so you wont have a lot of power for Hills you will be grapin 7th gear with a 34000 load. There trailers for the most part are 10yrs old that makes it real hard to move the tandems also no air ride as well. And as for any kind of service needed the only shop is in Forest Park G.A So if you are workin out of a drop yard like i was its take it to a T.A or some other place and have it fixed on your own time. Now im going to inform you of a the Mileage pay that they wont tell you about to you start workin for them and get your pay statements. You will be payed .35 mile to and from your orentation but when your workin for them the pay is like this. Its realey 28 cents that your earning why you ask ok anyone that has worked O.T.R. knows that you have a perdeim of 52 dollers a day tax break. What thay are doin is addin 7 cents of your perdem to the 28cents and tellin you there payin you 35 cents a mile. A flat out lie why because that 7 cents is allready your money from your perdem

So what your saying is stay away. Where did you work out of? Did you drive oreintation or was it a bus ride? Where did you run?

Wow All I can say is the company drivers I know here in our terminal are really happy........They do not unload as we deliver Kmart mostly and Tractor supply which is also no driver unload. We all show up at the DC to pick our loads up.... when we want too.. as long as your not late with the delivery. Its all Drop and Hook at the DC so its up to you....
We also do some of the other loads also ie TJMAXX, Homegoods, Marshalls(alot of those are also drop and hook so no driver unload) as well as others. Those loads are esay and lite to unload and all my customers have been great its a two way street you know... your attitude plus theirs.
Almost every company I have worked for or have checked out is going to short you miles its not right but thats the way it is.... until the changes are made for the better. I always figure 10% sometimes better sometimes not.
Pay I can't speak about........being an owner op I have always grossed well and my net has been good also. Are times tight right now? Yes they are for everyone..... I did look around back in Febuary and this past august and I can tell you most other plces where worst for owner ops as well as company drivers. I do know via a meeting we just had that Premier is one of the few that has not decreased company drivers pay.
34 hours off... I guess this can be true( its called the weekend) but our drivers are at home several times during the week and some every day.
It comes back to what I told my students when I trained (3yrs) its what you make of it all companies are 90% the same its that 10% that you will find different.
Do drivers leave yep they sure do several leave and come back more than once...as long as you keep your record clean and don't burn any bridges they will keep taking you back....AS LONG AS THERE IS AN OPENING
Good luck to all of you.
I'm headed back to the pool... and enjoy that 34 hours or more off. -
Im glad that thats the way it is were you run.I wich it was like that for me and others here in michigan yard.It must the area were we run cause most are not drop/hooks and home time is 34hrs all the time no home everyday or every other day. If it was id have stayed.YOU SHOULD ITS WORKIN FOR YOU.

Hey I agree with you every area is different. I am actually in one of the worst areas Florida....but then again its getting to be that time again (winter) when I would be no where else. I would love to work out in our Portland area.... except there again its getting to be that time...ice ice baby. I did that too mnay years....I'll take the hurricanes.
Good luck to you I hope it gets better. The whole economy sucks right now and I'm glad just to have a load to deliver today. -
i called the forest park office last week and they said they're hiring o/o in Fl.
how is it in the state working for them ?
do you know what kind of salary the o/o make ?
TIA -
hello Bigray
I'll try to help you with what I know ......
I just checked and as always they are hiring in Florida...O/Os. I have had a running joke for years with dispatch that they would rather use my fuel than theirs.
You will be paid by % here and to be honest I would rather not work any other way. You have a better opportunity this way if you work smart. And right now with the economy the way it is that is most important. I believe your % contract would be like the rest of us 72%.
The work we have is steady right now with some more opportunitys comming up ie more buisiness. You have to decide how you want to run and which areas to run in and how often you want to be home.
Dead head is the key here it can be 50% as we are a contract carrier not a common carrier. Thats why its importatant to learn quickly where you want to run. Your comfort zone will determine this which is to say how much you want to earn. Some times you just don't have a choice though and you have to take the good with the bad. Those of us who work hard and give our customers "on time" service do very well.
I have to go but ask me anything you like and I'll try and have the answer.
