No it depends on what freight your hauling. If your doing Kmart (Ocala)or the Tractor supply out of Mulberry I believe they are primarily Florida and a little GA.
Tractor Supply loads out of N Ga DC do come back into Florida. Bells loads out of Bradenton Go into Florida I believe and a few other states.
Plus there are drivers that go out of state and then come back with TJMAXX, Homegoods, and Marshalls back into Fl.
And there is freight That I don't follow we have also.
There is a lot of opportunity to stay in state.
Also I didn't mention before that some of the freight above is milage pay. So you might pick up a Kmart (%) load in Ocala take it to Oakland Park lets say and then maybe a return load that would pay milage....
If your an O/O like I said its up to you -
Big Ray if I may ask how long have you been driving?
-
21 months, i've had my lic. since march of 06.

Thats cool...............we just had a meeting recently and I had ask what were they requiring now and was told 2 yrs so I'm sure you have that covered.

After reading back over the above post I feel that I should expand a little so that all can understand Premier a little better. Premier Transportation is a great place to work but its not for everyone.....and no I'm not a recruiter or Mgmt. lurking here on the boards. I did the Mgnt. thing to many years in my other life (before trucking) so been there done that.
As I mention in another post Premier is a contract carrier which means we contract with a customer and for a freight rate we agree to pick up and deliver their loads safely and on time.....period. A lot of our customers have exact times the loads can be picked up and a very tight window that has to be met to deliver that load.
We have great freight and consistant freight because we can do just that all the time. Having said that it puts a lot of pressure on the driver to be a good manager of his/her time, to drive safely, be on time, and give good customer service as well. In this type of enviorment our customer base which is the way we earn a good living is only going to be there if we provide the above. Having been here 10 years I have experienced as well as others the loss of freight (ie income) because of a few drivers not caring enough to do their job and be on time. That phrase I'm sure all of you have heard over the CB "I'll get it there when I get it there" will not cut it here it hurts everyone else.
Most of the different areas that we work in... around the country have different schedules to meet. Right now in mine we have the luxury of our DC having the loads ready early so we have plenty of time to do the job right. As you have noticed there is another Premier poster above who has experienced a completely different requirment.
Premier keeps a very strict Safety Dept. and the fact that most of our bills are dated and timed by the cutomer at pickup and delivery points. means you must keep a accurate and LEGAL log book. You have to be ready at all times to be inspected by the different states DOT departments. And Premier requires first and foremost that Every driver run safely all the time. So its most importatant that each one of us pratice good comunication with all parties so that you can be safe, have the hours to work, and be on time for our customers.
Having said all this I will say it again in an industry where driver turn over is amazing Premier is a place where its a pleasure to work or have a career at. And a lot of us have chosen to do just that. As long as you treat others the way you want to be treated everyone from the President to the girls that make payroll are not only available but happy to talk... and assit you with your needs. I have seen this company go way beyound any other company that I've worked for to help a driver out be it be an O/O or company driver.
Now please excuse my rambling on but I hope this helps some of you who are looking at Premier as a place to sign on at. Its a defferent world than a lot of us have worked at before .....and for O/Os can be a real callenge.jtrnr1951 Thanks this. -
I'm still waiting for a answer. It does take a long time to go through your stuff. It deosn't help that none of my past employers responded to their letters. I'm still hopeful.

Premier,
Do you do any Pier 1 loads?
KH -
Sorry about the delay in getting back to questions. One minute things are slow and then BAM ya got to go...go..go.
KingHunter -yes Premier runs Pier 1 loads and thats about all I know. Some are one way and some round trip. I do know we run some out of the Savannah Ga location. I'm not sure about anywhere else.
RSN72- hang in there..... Premier is very selective and will verify everything they can. They are very concerned about keeping a good safety record and DOT rating so they cross every T and dot every I. -
Thanks Premier1457.
I've been looking at Premier Transportation for about a week now. Your messages are quite thorough and detailed, from the driver's perspective. I know recruiters will promise the world and then when you sign on, you find out the real truth!
