There are a lot of options.

If you want the full Verizon network, you can go with Selectel for less than $40/month with 2 GB data.

If you want just the Verizon prepaid network (aka "No Roaming"), Puppy Wireless, Verizon Prepaid, StraightTalk, etc.

If you want AT&T, you can get AT&T Prepaid (GoPhone) for $30/month with data, or AirVoice for $20/month Unlimited Talk and Text with virtually no data (100mb).

If you want 3G unlimited data only, you can get a plan that uses the VZW prepaid network for under $25/month.

I have the Selectel plan for Unlimited talk and text (UTT) and a Virgin Mobile (Sprint) plan that I use as a Hotspot with Unlimited Data for $25/month.

I have 2 separate plans from VZW.
Family plan with 3 lines. That's where I do all of my talk/text stuff on.

And a unlimited data line I use only for data.
    That's just under $100/month

    Not prepaid.
I could at some point consider TLess as long as I have my VZW Unlimited data line.
