Sounds like a silly idea. Why pay a middleman (who definitely will take a cut) when you can just pay the shop directly instead?
Magoo1968, Rideandrepair and Arctic_fox Thank this. -
Just get an escrow or a good savings/money market account and let it build up there.
You will have more to work with, can use it where and whenever you want. And you wont have some 3rd party scumbag decline your new turbo repair then run off with the 25,000 you put in the account after you go bankrupt from sitting 6 months waiting for THEIR shop to open....all because you got an oilchange done at 15001 miles with acdelco oil filter instead of 15000 with a oem filter.
Yes they are that petty. Getting one of those third party repair scams is about is dumb as INTENTIONALLY wipeing your arse with gympie gympie leaves. Also going to feel about the same when they get done bending you over too.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Seriously new O/O's. You've got to learn to keep as many hands our of your pie as possible. You start with schemes like these then you end up getting wrapped up with some factoring guys because someone sold you on the "no recourse durrrrr" nonsense and next thing you know you can't get above water. Same goes for dispatch services, most paperwork services, anything you see on youtube, etc etc. All that ######## just comes right out of your pocket and it takes the control and money of YOUR business right out from under you.

Do they even teach economics in high school anymore?

OMG there are services out there that reduce the maintenance costs with a recurring fee that covers the PM, local fleets used to use these services when they saw an advantage to them but now, the problem with labor and increasing costs, a company providing this would be hard pressed to keep the cost to the client down.

I'm not seeing how there'd be a cost savings. The middleman needs their cut too.
tscottme Thanks this. -
If pre-paid PMs made sense most Owner-Ops would use the service. How many drivers, not sent your way by the service itself, have told you they use a pre-paid PM service? One thing I learned from con-men is the people getting ripped-off will climb over 2 locked gates to give their money away. The con-man just needs to give them a plausible excuse and then tell them why they should ignore their friends and family if they say "don't do that."
Make decisions like the outcome is important.ZVar Thanks this. -
