Wait for a moment when he/she does not look busy... or annoyed (that may be several days).

    Then word the question well.

Say something like, "I know how to double clutch, but I'm much better at floating gears. Are we required to double clutch for the state test?"

That way if you get the same inspector on test day you not have put yourself in a corner.

It's actually very easy. Clutch from gear in to neutral, then neutral into gear. Or, I'll say it another way. When ready to shift, clutch, shift to neutral, release clutch, clutch again and shift into next gear. Instead of clutching once and shifting from gear to gear, like in your Honda, you will clutch going in and out of neutral.

The whole key is timing. Timing the engine RPM to road speed. you can already do that since you can float the gears.

Just thrown in the added clutch work, and left knee workout... and you will be past the test and on your way.

clutch, neutral, clutch, shift...or downshift clutch, neutral, rev, clutch, shift...It is a pita but our tester required it. We also had to do a 16 mile road test. Missing gears, crossing lines, coasting more than 100', and a ton of other stuff was points. Things like hitting a curb, shifting over railroad tracks, running stop signs/stop lights etc. were auto fails. And I dunno where you are but where I was you better have the parallel park down.

Ya, even the back of the trailer just barely clipping the red was bad. If you can not clear the intersection, stop at the line and wait. "Speed is not your friend" is a good rule. But going to slow is not good either.

we were required to use the clutch at all times, in school and during the test. all maneuvers had to be on point which i was good at. After that i went for my driving part, went across the street about a mile down through the industrial park to a circle. Turned around came back and done, passed. Although that was here and every driving test can be different. Mine just happen to be about 8mins if that but I've heard of test being anywhere from 30mins to an hour. Good luck and pay attention, also try to relax its just driving

I always wanted to take the driver's test my dad took. When he turned 16 he waited for the RCMP to come to town (they came once a month for testing) and drove himself into town. The cop asked how long he'd been driving for and he said since he was 10 or so. The cop gave him his license. No test.

A few years later when truck licenses (CDL in US, Class 1 here) came in, my uncle went and told them how long he'd been driving truck, and they gave him a license for that. My dad was standing there with him, and the cop asked if he needed one too. Dad asked how much and then said no because of the cost.

things were a little simpler back then.
