Anyone using PrePass or any other form of electronic scale bypass methods while pulling containers? I'm considering picking one up but since intermodal is under such scrutiny as it is I'm a little leery that they'll constantly flag me in anyway.

Pull tanker, bulk, and hopper; can't answer for your wagon but it is worth it even if half the time you get the red light.

We use it at our company, everyvtruck is issued one O/O and company drivers.

Great investment, sucks if your company has a bad DOT score, you'll either get rejected or get red lit often

Drivewyze offers prepass service as well

We've used it for probably 15 yrs, works great, but, it also depends on the type of cans you haul. We run a lot of 20's on 3 axle chassis, probably 75% of the time we get pulled in as the axles through it off

Sounds like it not be worth the extra money for the coup bypass feature.

Regular cans, 40's, 45's, 53's, I can't recall the last time I was red lighted on prepass, with 3 axle chassis, it's about 75% of the time, and it's only because the extra axle throws the whole system off. But, it also depends on the scale. Wyoming, I can't recall the last time I stopped with anything, here in Colorado, Ft. Morgan WB I-76 is the one that gets us the most, all other scales read the 3 axles fine, but Ft. Morgan doesn't.

So it's more of an axle thing versus an intermodal specific deal where they pull you in just because you're puling a can. It's almost as bad as hauling HAZMAT.
