It can... but when the channel is crowded and someone else is running 50 watts, your 12 watt signal isn't going to be heard

The mic gain I normally leave wide open. However, I like to use the RF gain to cut back on the white noise a bit and still be able to hear stronger signals.

Well, I guess I've pissed off enough people on 19 with the antenna analyzer. I don't know what the hell is wrong with the passenger side antenna. Can't get it tuned without running it through my MFJ Versa Tuner.

My God, so true, man, so true. I run a Styker 655 and when I first got it the tech had that bloody beep turned on. So of course I jump in the truck, key up and call for a radio check. released key and that infernal beep went off. Of course I was just down the road from the Iowa 80 so I got a dam earful...hasnt been on since.

Good review, like most radios there are features that are well liked and others not so much, beep! Im guessing with a 6 pin mic connection that one of the pins are hot, like on the President Grant ll, and the mic is actually a power mic that is powered by the radio, beep! I have an older Magnum Omegaforce and the stock mic is a power mic, with channel selector, that is powered by the radio, and I posted on this forum a while back that the Magnum mic actually works on my BC 980, so one of the pins must be hot, beep! The Magnum mic has an internal adjustment pot to a increase or decrease modulation level, wonder if your mic has a modulation adjustment? Beep! , but overall it appears to be a nice radio,Beep,Beep,Beep!

50 watts on ssb? Only if they are sitting right next to you, dont think higher wattage can intercept or cover up amother signal 1200 miles away, its basically a crap shoot, luck and chance of the draw.
