Welp. Your loss. My CR-577 clobbers any other mic I've ever tried in terms of audio quality and mean indicated power - and that's with the volume on the mic never going over 2.

I bought it for the audio quality, not amplification, or anything else.

I get the audio quality off the Sheer Power of my radios. A BATTERY powered mic is never needed or a necessity. EVER !!!!

Where is the cb bracket for the radio ??? The bracket and the screws that go into the radio act as a ground for the radio itself. And help to get rid of background noises.

When I get home snd I can do a remote recording with the stock mic and the Astatic, we'll see if I've wasted my money.

I probably could run a ground strap to the chassis but when is the last time you've seen a metal dash? Putting the brackets on there won't provide any more ground than the way it is now. Is the chassis not grounded through the DC cable?

Everything stuck to my dash is just hot glued. I like as few holes in the plastic as possible. The only holes in my dash are where the power cables come through for the N4.
