    Harsh reality is.

95% of truckers just don't care to inspect.

    Give or take.

I get tired of driving other people's crap myself. And having to fix something just so I feel safe. It's a never ending battle.

I also love it when I do something to my equipment so it's ready for me when I come back. Only to have someone else use while I'm gone. And have to refix.

That's why I don't run those chrome hub covers on my steer axle and I replace the end piece when the sight glass is no longer Transparent enough to check your oil.

I dont remember Checking the hubs as part of the pre-trip as per dmv. Lots of engine stuff and identifying parts and checking the rims and tires, but nothing about the hubs from what I can remember.

Generally. Trailers are supposed to be inspected by the shop. Generally.

So, it's not entirely driver fault. Company.has some blame also.

    BigDog Trucker Thanks this.

On the subject of trailer pre-trip...

Crawl under and check the brake stroke. You'd be surprised at how many times you say WTF.

No need to look at the brake stroke. Just look at the brakes. Gaps between shoes and drums will tell you brake stroke is WTF.
