i had the same problem last year i went to the doctor and he sent me to a sleep doctor and guess what i have sleep apnea. got the cpap machine and at first i hated it but after about 6-7 nights got used to it and now i sleep like a baby and dont get tired during the day... you may think your sleeping but your not your waking up every 5-10 min and that is not healthy for your brain or your heart. (and you do not have to be overweight to have sleep apnea) so if you are, lose some weight like miss elvee said. PS..... IT REALLY DOES WORK
prevent drowsiness?

I agree with the above. If you're sleeping 10 hours and still drowsy during the day, something is wrong.
I don't agree that getting too much sleep is making you tired. I'm not sure where the reasoning in that argument comes from. Regardless I would suggest as others suggested and see your doc. Let them know what is going on. Cut out the caffeine or whatever you are using because that is only a bandaid.cheflee Thanks this. -
"Never drive sick" seems like good advice. What has your experience been interacting with your dispatcher when you're sick? How much pressure do you get to suck it up and deliver the load, no matter what?

Power bars always worked for me.But like everything else,it you take or eat too much of one thing you could get immuned to it and it won't help.I think some hit it when they suggested water.Try natural things likes fruits veggies and next time you go to the mall check out the GNC store or health plus store.

Sleeping a lot does not mean you are getting rested. Too much sleep can be bad.
Are you getting any exercise? Even just two or three laps walking around a large TS parking lot will help make a more deep restful sleep.

Good Luck to you! -
As others said stay off the energy drinks. Yes, they help INITIALLY but the downside is you have a crash from them and then you're often more tired than before you drank them or than if you've never had them. Drink plenty of water (I drink about five or six 16 oz. bottles of water per day) and try to eat your meals around the same time each day. A carbonated beverage with sugar, such as a Coke or Mountain Dew, works for me. I drink two or three a day, in addition to one cup of STRONG (not that garbage available in truck stops, convenient stores and fast food restaurants) coffee in the morning. I make Dunkin' Donuts coffee and use two teaspoons of ground coffee for 10 ounces of coffee. Get your blood work checked, too.
