yeah I got too over confident and complacent and this is what happens when you get that way. Especially! In trucking. Huge lesson learned. I find out today if I still have a job or not. Wish me luck.

Yeah that’s why I apologized for going into defense mode. I know this is on me. Just disappointed In myself. Had a clean record and now I got an OOS for a leaky tire and this. Bummer

It is what it is. You can't sulk on it. This industry is full of constant problems everyday... the oos points go against the company not you... It just goes on ur psp report... you need to do a good Pretrip everyday if you don't already... It helps avoid a lot of issues... you can pickup a flat tire down the road or it starts leaking... but it's always a good idea to do a walk around evertime you stop the truck, even if it's just to take a pee or whatever... I find a lot of problems during that time usually and I can find a parts house or shop down the road to get it fixed Fairly easily most of the time... the last person you want finding those problems is the dot man.... Its the life of a truck driver, make a honest mistake and you get punished either by the company or the dot...but both sides understand when you own up to it and admit your mistakes... but can't sit around and cry about it when u get in trouble... just make sure you do that pre trip and post trip and walk around during the day, get out and look everytime you are in a tight spot... and if another driver tries to to rush you, tell him to #### off..

Any driver that says they have a clean record is probably lying or they just aren't trying hard enough... I have failed inspection, got stuck in jobsites, tore up tires at jobsites, flat tires.. Etc. For awhile I was getting a flat tire it seemed at least once a week.. Quite frustrating.. I remember buying a new set of drives and then not 3 days later running over a piece of a metal at a mulch plant and having to replace that brand new tire again... That still makes me frustrated just thinking about it... the difference is I didn't wait for the dot man to find it, or leave it at the yard for the next driver..hell I even rolled my truck off the side of a quarry haul road back in 2021 the same day I paid my truck off... and yet I still have a job working for myself... How a bout last year when I ripped the airlines out of my lowboy trailer and on my way to pickup replacement parts my trailer was impounded by the sheriff's department... That was a hell of an ordeal...That I don't care to go thru ever again

I said all that to say, just because u make mistakes doesn't mean u are a bad driver or bad employee.. Its all in how you handle those mistakes, what you learn from them, and if you take ownership of them and move on and try to make the best of it... if you aren't making mistakes you aren't trying hard enough In my opinion

I had to report it to the accident department and I believe they’re getting insurance to fix it. I pleaded with them to let me take care of all the costs for the repair and I’ll send them receipts and everything. Unfortunately, that’s not how they do things. It’s a larger company. I wouldn’t have cared if it costs thousands to keep it from going on their insurance and my record. Perhaps they won’t put it on my DAC and just keep it with company credentials. But I’m not holding my breath. Thank you for your input!

Well I gotta say, as much as this thread spiraled out of control there for awhile, you came around quickly and now it seems like you are handling it with the right attitude.

Yeah those guys are usually full of ####. They're either lying or just never been caught.

Well just got off the phone with safety. They’re talking to my boss and determining my future here. Gotta say…. It’s not looking in my favor. The safety guy is very strict. So if they have to let me go I understand. With these 2 blemishes what kind of company would you suggest I go to for second chances? I know Western Express will take me maybe I live in an area where the trucking jobs pay pretty horribly so I don’t want to go local. I work for a jet set type of company where they fly me out to companies in need of drivers but I’m assuming that not only is the company I’m on contract with is letting me go, but my actual company will too. So it’s an even more difficult situation for me.

We can call @Chinatown to help u with ur job search... I would think the only reason you get fired, is if you lied about it. Rather than the f up itself.

If the tire and the bumper are the only issues you have, I don't think you're going to have a problem going pretty much anywhere. I'm really surprised a company would consider firing you over those two issues alone. Tires can easily go flat while you're running down the road. You can hope to catch them when you stop along the way, but you could just have bad luck of timing. The bumper is also a very minor issue. I'm not sure I've seen a company yet that doesn't allow for at least 1 or 2 minor preventable incidents on a drivers record. You get into problems when you have DOT reportable accidents on the record, which those are not.

Don't worry, you weren't caught being untruthful and you paid out-of-pocket to fix the damage.
Probably find a better job than you have now.
