I don't understand how three feet of crunched asphalt caused thirty feet of driving in the grass.

OP, I looked at that photo and I also took a copy of it and posted it in a Facebook group I am a part of. I have two safety critters to reply so far. Both said and I agree it is NOT preventable as long as there is no payout. HOWEVER, both said and I agree they would list it as an in-house incident and call you in for a discussion. In other words, watch that! The two things that bedevil safety critters the most are for drivers to strike stationary objects and run off the pavement.

so, no curb or warning to indicate someone SHOULD NOT DRIVE THERE?

so if you were on a new highway paving job, and the lines were not painted yet, it's OK in YOUR MIND to be all over the place?????

you STAY ON THE ROAD in as a proper lane as you can.

you failed to do that, and YOU caused damage.

you should be nailed with a preventable.

as for your truck falling thru the pavement while LEGALLY PARKED, that could not be on you, STOP trying to make it look like you have no responsibilities while operating that rig.

it’s not a road. It’s a parking lot that sees delivery trucks. So yes every inch of pavement is and should be useable.

it’s fun to see guys jump up and down to blame someone that in reality is more of a material failure then anything.

It’s not actually my photo I just figured it would ruffle some feathers.
The driving in the dirt is kinda goofy but the asphalt is 100% not on the driver I won’t change my mind about that.

They don’t get to build ####ty lots and be surprised when it crumbles. I’ve seen several times where they will build a new slum lord apartment complex dump some hot asphalt on the dirt and pretend it’s gonna hold.

edit:Some guys have never been anywhere then big commercial docks I guess.
I’ve been to places that don’t see anything bigger then box trucks.

Trolling? No I guess it should have been more of a poll then open forum?

the point still stands who feels it’s preventable vs non preventable

If your purpose was to "ruffle some feathers", then you were, in fact, trolling.

So...what is it that you want to hear? Someone who could not navigate a PARKING LOT isn’t responsible for digging rows in the landscape and crumbling the edge of the asphalt? Sure, whatever.
