Didn't read all the details, but I'm sure it must a good deal for Prime. I'll find out how in due time. In the meantime, I have some questions.

If the former mayor ran his company so far into the ditch, to the point where he has 50k in assets and between 10m and 50m in debts, what is it thats worth saving? The contracts? What contracts? He's bankrupt. He's out of business or at least soon will be. So how can he service the contracts? And more importantly, why would he want to anyway? Are we not talking about the contracts he has in place which made him so much money he's bankrupt? So like I said, what contracts. In any case, its difficult to believe that he has any exclusive contracts that any other trucking company, like Prime for example, couldn't aquire when he goes out of business. Or, and here's an even better one! Its tough to believe he has any contracts that any other much larger company couldn't aquire, regardless of whether or not he goes out of business, if the contracts were worth aquiring. I mean come on, if he has such a great deal going on there in terms of contracts, why is he bankrupt, and why hasn't some other larger company, that has no debt and is in a much better position to negotiate, grabbed the contracts? Are they secret contracts that only the mayor knows about? I'm sure that must be it.

Secret contracts huh? How about a bunch of undisciplined dopes who can't manage to control their right foot? There's been thousands of carriers with that problem take the chapter 7 route over the last few years - not surprising its happening down the street at O&S.

It wouldnt be the first time we "helped out" another company... and then eventually swallowed them up. Passmore comes to mind right away.

I doubt Prime wouldnt put themselves in this position if they didnt see some sort of advantage.

O&S is in Springfield and I imagine they have some decent contracts in and out of the area.

We swallowed up TRL mainly for the contracts they had out of the Hazelton area if I remember correctly (and got us another terminal)

Yeah, like I said, its a good thing for Prime or they wouldn't be doing it. But its tough to figure out the good part right now and the contract angle doesn't add up. I did notice that the O&S drivers will be getting a higher percentage of the line haul than the Wil-Trans drivers currently get, which I assume is due to the existing contracts being brought into the fold.

Make sure you wave to the undisciplined dopes as you pass them going down the road pulling our trailers. Since most of the drivers are lease operators, the right foot problem affects them more than it does the company. But I have no doubt improvements can and will be made in several areas regarding the drivers, but that just raises more questions. But it also provides a possible answer too.

Prime is in Springfield. O&S is in Springfield. Why would a driver work for O&S instead of Prime? Could it be because they are undisciplined dopes Prime would not hire? It shouldn't take too long to weed out the dopes which leaves the contracts in the hands of the capable and disciplined Prime drivers. Okay, it is about the contracts, I knew I could figure this deal out.

It's the usual... they go to O&S (or wherever) due to hard feelings for Prime, or they believe the T/S Bravo Sierra. I doubt that the O&S lease-ops will get any more than the WilTrans guys - you forget there has to be a percentage to cover management costs.

And yeah... its not about their equipment, nor are we getting any real estate - so what's in it for Prime? Access to freight.
