You know what they say, "if the shoe fits." And if it doesn't then what's the problem? Do you feel like you have been called a dope? Are you a dope? Is it possible that a truck driver could be so thin skinned that he could let something written on an internet message board bother him? I had never considered the possibility. Is it possible that a truck driver did not carefully read what exactly was written? Whatever the case may be, I hope you get some help with that. As for shooting off my mouth?
To boast or talk too much; to tell secrets, to talk too much, especially about something you should not talk about, to talk too much or without thinking about something.
I had to look it up to see if indeed I was shooting off my mouth. There was no boasting, no secrets, and I thought about what I wrote. The rest I suppose is a matter of perception. You may believe I talk too much. I don't think I talk that much at all, but you are certainly entitled to your opinion. If you think I talk too much, then thats the way it is. In your mind anyway. That leaves something I should not talk about. Do you think I should not talk about it? Again, you are entitled to your opinion and maybe you just don't like the subject. But I figured if its in the papers and on the internet, court documents and all, it would be okay to talk about. It was just something that interested me, and still does, thats all. I suggest that you may want to just skip over my posts from now on, because I will continue to post any new information I find on the subject or speculations I may have.
As for calling anyone a dope, well not exactly. Technically I don't care for the word. I prefer moron or idiot. If I see one of those I'll let you know immediately. But someone did make a post and used the word dope, and I responded to it. You see the real problem I would have with calling an O&S driver a dope is, I don't know any. If I don't know any, how can I call them a dope? I can't. Well, I could, but it wouldn't mean anything since I don't know any O&S drivers. So when looking at the original dope reference by the other poster you have to consider the context. I believe the original poster was simply doing the same thing I have been doing all along, which is just trying to come up with an explanation for what is going on. You know, because we don't have anything else to do out here sometimes. Like now. I don't believe the original poster was technically calling anyone a dope, instead he was merely suggesting that it could be one of the many possibilities. And thats what I responded to. Until the truth is known, people will speculate. Are you here to tell us that there are no dopes at O&S? If so, thats great. We can eliminate that possibility. What else you got for us?
Talking trash about Jim? What trash? You'll have to spell that one out for me. I don't know Jim. All I know is what's in the articles and court documents that are posted online. If some of that information is incorrect or trash, then I'm sure Jim will take it up with whoever put it online. I did appreciate the information from the other poster, and you mentioned it too, regarding the lease deal. Thats good stuff. Its sometimes tough to decipher all of the legal ramblings. The 80% number I saw was correct, but it goes to the company, not the drivers. There are no details regarding the deal O&S has with their drivers. And when you think about it, that makes sense to want to keep that information private. That way O&S can take the 80% and give whatever share of that they want to the drivers using a mileage system. I wouldn't like it if I were a driver, but I'm sure its better for the company. And the O&S drivers may be coming out better or worse than the WilTrans drivers, we don't know, they may not know themselves, we can only speculate. But thanks for providing the information.
Now you want to come on here and talk bad about Prime drivers? LOL, get in line pal. Take a number. I will not tell you there are no dopes, morons, or idiots. Nope. We got all that. And then some. Oh, some of the stories I could tell. Welcome to the trucking business. And in my best Forest Gump voice, "thats all I have to say about that."
If you need anything further from me, I'll be looking at the dope, also known as, a Prime driver, in the mirror, as you suggested.

Probably a good idea. I never should have responded to your "undisciplined dopes" reference, thats what got me blasted. But I didn't want the guy to get the wrong idea so I was just trying to point him in the right direction.

To all prime drivers that have read my posts, please don't get the impression that I think or ever thought all prime drivers are bad..I've been doing this over 21yrs n have seen all kinds of drivers in every company toolin down the road..the word dope was used to describe all o&s drivers (rusty is so sweet)..n used to say that's why the company had to file..yeah, I take offense at that..my boss is a good man n prime isn't going into this just to be nice guys..time will tell if this works out to benefit both companies or to absorb one..either way theres gonna be jugheads in the mix..I just hope I don't have to steer around one, no matter what logo is on the truck..lol..thank u for the welcome, I feel well initiated now...to both the good n the bad..
Peace to all..

Btw, rusty ur words are true troll style n I don't know if u even realize it..thin skinned has nothing to do with responding to uneducated guesses..why have an opinion or speculation of a business u admit to know nothing about ? Jim didn't run the company into the ground..nothing in the court docs claim it,.neither do the articles that I've read..the drivers don't have a lead foot..lol..we are governed at 64mph a few at 70mph..if u look at prime's n o&s's csa n adjust by percentage, speeding violations are about the same..I didn't respond to start a war..I responded to let u all kno that o&s drivers are apt to read ur "opinions"..put urself in other driver's shoes..if the tables we're turned, what would u think of the opinions expressed concerning o&s n its ppl ? In the scope of my life, I take opinions by the time of how they're written..so I may be offended at some opinions here, but I won't lose any sleep over them..

*tone, not time..
I'm the typo queen..

And to set the record straight on csa comparison o&s is at 40.9 % ..prime is at 46%..the threshold is 60% to be considered in the bad..ue drivers tend to text more n that's a 10 point slam against prime..there really isn't much difference between the 2 companies til u get to the "driver fitness" ..we dumped on that with 85%..most of which were from not having a license with the driver or current..same with the med cert..n to me that's just dumb..drivers seriously affect csa company scores with something as easy as carrying ur license..no one is immune to thoughtless drivers..prime's counterpart to that is the texting..just a few drivers made that go up by not having self control to not text n drive..

Gotcha. I'm a troll that shoots off his mouth. Anything else? I can take it. There still seems to be a perception/comprehension problem though, and I'll take the blame for that too if it helps you. But I'll try again. Another poster, not me, another poster, suggested that O&S drivers may be undisciplined dopes. The other poster also suggested that they may not be able to control their right foot. Not me. Got an issue with any of that, take it up with the other poster.
why have an opinion or speculation of a business u admit to know nothing about
Uhhhh, because I can? I don't have an opinion regarding O&S or their drivers and haven't posted any. Why would I, and why would I care? I wouldn't and I don't. Speculation, yes. Guilty your honor. Just curious as to what the deal is. I'll find out in due time every detail I want to know. In the meantime I have posted some questions and or speculation. If you have any answers or would like to dispell any errant notions, feel free to add to the conversation. Or not, it doesn't matter.
Jim didn't run the company into the ground..nothing in the court docs claim it,.neither do the articles that I've read
Just a figure of speech, but fair enough, I'll refrase. If a company has less than $50k in assets, is between 10 & 50 million in debt, the owner abruptly resigns as mayor and files for bankruptcy protection, and looks to merge with another carrier? Things are not good. Do you really need to read that in an article or a court document? And the guy at the top typically gets the credit or the blame. If thats not Jim, then whoever is at the top, its their fault.
the drivers don't have a lead foot..lol..we are governed at 64mph a few at 70mph
Again, the lead foot reference was not made by me. But by Prime standards 64-70 would be considered to be lead foot territory.
if u look at prime's n o&s's csa n adjust by percentage, speeding violations are about the same
I won't be looking at any of that information. I have no interest in comparing the two companies. I don't know how it helps me. The only thing I am concerned with is taking care of the company that gives me a paycheck.
I didn't respond to start a war..I responded to let u all kno that o&s drivers are apt to read ur "opinions"..put urself in other driver's shoes..if the tables we're turned, what would u think of the opinions expressed concerning o&s n its ppl ?
Good to know. I'll let you and all of the other O&S drivers know when and if I have an "opinion" about them. And here's a little preview on that. I don't have an opinion and won't be expressing it if I develop one. Turning the tables, what I would think about an opinion about Prime and their people, is that everyone is entitled to their opinion. I may try to correct any myths or misconceptions, but most likely someone would beat me to it. There seems to be a pretty good group around here in that regard.
In the scope of my life, I take opinions by the time of how they're written..so I may be offended at some opinions here, but I won't lose any sleep over them..
I'll give opinions their due consideration, take them with a grain of salt, or ignore them. But I will never be offended. You keep talking about opinions, but I haven't given any. So just for you I'll give one now.
I don't know Jim, but it is my opinion that anyone who operates a business for 30 years has done a lot of things right. If 95% of businesses fail within the first 5 years, what does that say about the remaining 5%? To me it says they are in elite company. You have to be pretty darned good to be one of the 5%, so Jim must be a pretty good guy when it comes to business. From there, if you decide to serve your community, well, that's a noble quality as well. Unfortunately, it appears that serving your community, at least in Jim's case, can have a devastating impact on your business.
There you go, you have your opinion, knock yourself out. I'm not big on opinions, because they're meaningless. Who in the world cares what my opinion is? No one as far as I know. But none of that has any bearing on what my interest is here.Last edited: Jun 23, 2012
