It sounds as if you're concerned over what a former employer may say regarding your tenure with their company?

 

You could always ask a friend of yours to call your former employer pretending to be a potential new employer and see what they tell your friend. You might be worrying over nothing.

 

Just be careful not to use a company name that is widely known in your area. I've had out of state friends call and say they are with a company in their state. Harder to verify versus a local company.
