Keep in mind that there are specific requirements for the CPAP machine itself to satisfy the requirements of the FMCSA in terms of your medical clearance.
If you get a "cheap" machine that won't run on an APU power supply, or can't be "read" to document your CPAP usage compliance - you just wasted a pile of money.

FYI.. I just spent some time at my sisters. My BIL has a CPAP and mentioned that he was bummed because he spent an extra 500 dollars for a "quieter" machine. I was sleeping on the couch. That evening he asked why I had my mask on but the machine off. I assured him it was running. He could not believe it so we turned it on and then his. HOLY COW. His wasn't as bad as some I have heard but mine was signifigantly quieter

Just remember this about BMI: The generic calculations only show a relationship between two factors - weight and height. Nothing more. It says nothing at all about your "health." That's why you should use BMI as a guide to get a general overall picture of your body. Medical professionals will use many other person-specific tools like bloodwork and specific body measurements to make their decisions about your health.

to those that have the cpap, is there are humidifier with it and heater. I currently use and OLD one, have had it for like 10 years, but with no insurance I was unable to get a new one. No heater and no humidifier. So when it is colder in the room i have a habit of taking it off when sleeping. When the room is warmer I do not. the killer is that i sleep better in a colder area. I talked to the recruiter and was told to bring my old machine. I am waiting on getting money for my passport so i can get moving. Otherwise i would be rolling now.
Decided on prime because of the sleep test and it's cost. was quoted 1500 for the sleep test here, and then another 2k for the machine, that is out of my budget. So i struggle with the old machine and keep working on losing weight. I think the sleep apnea is a curse of family cause everyone in the family snores to an extent. My mom even does and she is not over weight, my dad was not over weight and snored ( he was under weight) grand father could wake the town up with his windows closed etc -
I have sleep apnea and have been on a cpap since 2002, and i have a downloadable machine, if I bring a letter from my sleep doc stating thsat I am in compliance , do they still make you have a sleep study there?

If you already have the CPAP and can produce logs, I don't think so. Call the recruiter to verify.

I've been on a CPAP since 2001. I'm getting a new one through medical. It's a dot aproved machine with the humidifyer. You have to have a very recent test. If you live in Cali. and you turn in a physical that shows you are on a CPAP then they could pull your licence as they did mine and make you go through a lot of crap and a lot of stress. Been fighting with them for a year and a half. Talked to a recruiter and the said as long as they clear me and take off the restriction I can work for prime. Also seen a lot of other drivers come into the DMV court while I was in there with the same problem. In Cali you are guilty until proven inacent. LOLOL

to answer the question about the humidifier yes this the one sleep point (the company prime uses) provides has the humidifier. On an aside Sleeppointe is not a prime compnay as many try to claim. Sleep pointe is a company who has a focus on Apnea and truckers. Many truck stops have a port for you to uppload your machine date as long as it is sleep pointe. you can also have it on your laptop. If your machine is a Logging machine that is good but you have to have it read for your physical. Sleep Pointe provides this as a service. Also they have a liason that works with prime. They keep up with you to make sure all is well. And their machines are made to be read on the road. Just some thoughts.
