I don't think you'll lose them. Class A, I believe, is Gen, knowledge, air brakes, and combo. Plus, you might as well get haz-mat out of the way too. Here in Indiana, test results are good for nine months. I actually had to re-take the basic "rules of the road" test because time had lapsed when I went to transfer my CDL here. Remember for the haz-mat you need to get fingerprinted and have a background check done. This will transfer to your TWIC, but does not transfer the other way.

Two points... the recruiter was right about hazmat and endorsements in some states - not all states have reciprocal status when it comes to them. Call MODOT and check. OTOH, if you pass those tests in your state, and have to redo them in MO, it shouldn't be a problem... you're supposed to know that stuff for more than the hour it takes to do the test.

Second, if you use the hazmat background check as part of the TWIC process, your TWIC card expires with your license. For someone new, that's not that big a deal - most places the five-year lifespan of TWIC matches the CDL. For me, it meant I would have had to get a new TWIC card 2 years sooner than I have to now.

Thanks IP. Forgot about TWIC being tied to your license if you take that route. It's kinda six in hand, a half dozen in the bush as it saves the cost of an additional background check, but expires with your license. Still don't get why the exact same agency (TSA) can't communicate well enough to make this a one time deal. Well, actually, I do get it$$$!
