Your business model is based on the looks of the truck? Does that get you better rates? I can tell you that inefficient but pretty looking trucks has been the downfall of many trucking companies. Right now a fleet of 5500 trucks, having about 30% pete 387's and587's have developed a track record of poor performance and high break down rates. Contracts are given based on reliability, and petes at prime are not doing our delivery rating justice. I understand that a truck is a revenue generating business piece of equipment. You don't buy a copier, printer, waste basket, or stapler based on looks, but on functionality. When you look at the numbers and history, you make a better judgement. It is possible that you got lucky and got one of the "good" petes that have come off the assembly line. I wouldn't take that chance with my business. To each his own, but there are alot of new eyes looking on here. They deserve to know the bottom line.

Got a preplan for a short trip on the way to my 90 this afternoon... not bad money, but delivered on Wednesday. Which means I'm sitting on it for a day too. I don't think so! So... ten minutes later, another one... also short, not as much money but delivers on Tuesday morning. I'll take that! Probably make more in total with whatever comes next anyhow!

Delivered to WallyWorld in Harrisonville MO this afternoon. Heard a huge bang, and noticed a CRE newb cranking madly on his landing gear... dropped the trailer onto his drives. PEElot in Nevada MO - picking up in Carthage tomorrow, and delivers in Louisville KY. Will drop by the yard for a bit tomorrow afternoon.

    Sucks to be him IP!!!

Rest area I78 NJ. This place sucks, along with the rest of the state. Drop close by in the AM then better be heading towards SpriMo. Wouldve had a good run yesterday, but the shipper screwed up the paperwork so bad, no one could fix it. Had to unload n I left. Picked up a preload today, drop tomorrow. Two trailers in there, one weighed 14,000, the other 30,000 no trailer number given to pick up, so I took the one I liked best :D

    Tater Run!!! :biggrin_25523:

Ran down to Carthage, and got loaded with some kind of refrigerated stuff. Ran up to the yard for miscellaneous paperwork, safety award, found out we got $50 Prime bucks for the company store for driver appreciation week. Spent some of my PTC Prime bucks on the new 2013 map. (I'll be lettin' Sam's tax regiment know this was MY bucks!)

Grabbed lunch, talked to the FM, and headed to the wash bay. You guys know... the TWO bay wash bay. So... there's a couple in one line, and three in the other. Being a dumb ol' truck driver who according to the University of Colorado can count to THREE, the line with the least number of trucks in it is the one to choose. THREE - TWO = the line with TWO is the one for me. Trundle on up, and just as I get there, my line moves! Gravy!! Next thing ya know there's this irate company guy (the number THREE guy) tellin' me he was really in that line, and some how or another once the line got behind him, it slimmed down to ONE line. Oh yeah? Sorry bub, I don't think so!

Then he goes on to tell me that I couldn't possibly be "thinking" because I'm a truck driver! Further, how long have I been at Prime - I should know there's only ONE line. ??? Sorry pal, I've been here long enough to know two bays equals two lines, and gee I'm sorry, but when you're parked all the way at the side (by the returned bobtails) you're in THAT LINE, not the one closer to the detail shop, i.e., THIS LINE!

He gave up at that point. Darned good thing too... especially since ownership of real estate in a LINE formed of 18-wheelers tends to be all ya need to CLAIM said ownership! Oi Vey!!

Gonna grab a nap over at the WalMart on Glenstone. Gotta get going around 11.
