Prime example of why Swift Drivers have the reputation they do!

Yet another problem with the industry, no pride? If you really think that then please leave as quickly as you can. I have made no secret of the fact that I am only driving as a means to an end. This job provides a chance to fix many current problems, as well as putting back money to avoid future problems of the same nature. However, I take pride in what I do everyday, I pride myself in the fact my dad drove for 50+ years to provide for my family, and my grandpa did the same thing until he died of lung cancer.

Having pride in ANYTHING you do should be a major part of who/what we are. You should always strive to be the best you can be/the best there is at any task you try otherwise you're just admitting that there is nothing about yourself to have pride in.

 

That would/could have detrimental affect(s) in regards to personal
and vehicle safety.

I had a run in with a State Cop in Ft Pierce Fl a few years back,the wench
at a Truck Service Center was advertising their business over the Cb and I had the channel locked down with superior fire power
Having a few cold ones on a 34 reset,she decided to call the fuzz in an attempt to get the channel back. Fuzz shows up and insist I cease and desist my activity.
We had a short discussion about his lack of authority concerning my
Cb radio operations,didn't set well with Mr Justice.

He asked if I had been drinking ? I told him yes and that I was on a 2 day lay over due to an appointment screw up.
He asked for the paperwork on the truck and my ID etc.

When I popped the door to retrieve my Permit book he saw and empty bottle next to the shift tower,thats when things went south very quickly.

Fast forward . . . . . . .
I was told that the key in the ignition(truck wasn't running) was considered "INTENT" to drive. I asked to see proof of this alleged infraction at any level. I was denied and ended up getting my truck towed
and spending the rest of my time off in a motel.

No citation was issued and to this day no police report was ever filed.
I stayed well clear of that State for several months,that Service Center
"got theirs" when things came full circle some time later.

It proved very costly for all involved,more so on their end due to my attention to "detail"

I'm much smarter these days when it comes this topic,
lesson learned.

 

I know in Texas if the keys are in the vehicle that is considered intent to drive, if the keys are in the ignition (on or not) that is a D.W.I. Of course this may just be officers reading of the law, but you know how often the courts agree with the officer if you can't get a good enough lawyer.

I thought this post was about why swift drivers have the reputation they do. Are all these posts about drivers drinking in thier trucks frim swift? I don't think so.
