my FM does not "tell me" .! He may suggest but it is my decision. I want and will comly with Prime's rules and regs but you are way out of line here. :biggrin_25524:
I need parking loaded or not in Erie, Pa to see my daughter and grand daughters.
Nothing else, just secured parking. If all you have to input is Prime Safety CD's .........?????????????????

Then my only guess is you are a L/O driver and Prime has no problem hitting you with an insurance claim if something happens to the trailer.

Company drivers can only drop where we are told. As a general rule we are not allowed to keep our trailers while on scheduled hometime.

Another policy is permission required from FM and a king pin lock to disconnect from a trailer at a truckstop or other non customer/prime lot location. (example: if the truck stop shop requires you to bobtail for a repair)

I had a DD repair shop rejected i Tacoma in favor of another DD shop closer Seattle because the Tacoma shop did not have a fence. I was going on hometime and having engine repairs at the same time. Security had over ruled RA.

If you are L/O then maybe they don't care. They sure cared 3 years ago when that moron dropped his empty at the Pilot in Vegas and bobtailed to Casino. Bu-bye trailer.

They cared when the two morons left a hival customer with a load stopped at a truckstop 10 miles down the road ignoring the no stop policy for X amount of miles, and half a dozen other hival procedures when you do stop. They came out from their lunch and discovered their truck gone.

There are good reasons for some if these policies. Ever wonder why we are supposed to lock an empty trailer and the inspect door? Some one was targeting Prime trailers with wadded up towels ignited with accelerants and stuffing them into the inspection doors at truckstops.

Our board had a guy who wasn't more Ythan 5 miles from a shipper, decided not to use his lock cause he was sure he was overweight and only needed a scale ticket to return from the shipper. He came out of the truck stop with his scale ticket to discover 5 people tossing boxes of chicken into a pickup from out of the back of his trailer.

These are just Prime related incidents. I had to sit for a Freightwatch briefing with one of their security guys BEFORE the shipper would release a $3 million plus pharmacuticals hival load. He may have only been trying to scare me, but the incidents and lengths some of these bad guys go to snatch loads was enough to make me follow some of his security advice on everday loads... even for a load of broccoli.

It's really crappy for your FM to make you find your own secure location to drop an empty trailer when going on scheduled hometime... However my bet is that you are really lookiQng for someplace to park while loaded passing thru the house... And FMs are notorious for discouraging or placing restrictions on parking loaded at or near the house when just "passing thru"

Also, I don't necessarily agree with it but I was told to report any trailer sitting in a truckstop that was missing both a tractor attached and missing a kingpin lock. Apparently we are supposed to tattle tale any Prime driver who passes us with a trailer that has a customer seal and no security lock too.

You should listen to the CDs just for the info. Policy changes come fast and can take forever to filter down to the fleet drivers. The CDs are not just about safety.

Apparently there is a new "online" policy that my trainee was telling me about that he learned in class at orientation. He was light on details but he said part of it delt with making and posting online videos in Prime equipment.

Backing takes a lot more thought on the flatbed side than reefer. We have axles that are 10.2 foot apart. You turn too fast, and youll blow that front tire off the axle. You obviously dont know what it takes to do flatbed.

YOUR FM CAN TELL YOU WHERE TO LEAVE THE TRAILER. Mine did... Found me a secure place I can leave it. He told me where to leave in compliance with Primes policy on such.

Somebody scrape the 6 months of the "ole sea salt" off this guy's shoulders.

Time and time again your posts are gonna bury you. Now climb up on your cross and play the martyr again.

I think that some of you are missing the point of us coming on these threads.

    1. Share information that will make us ALL better drivers.

    2. Share with everyone how we feel about the company we drive for.

    3. Make some acquaintences and sometimes joke with others....
