many years ago, i worked a 1099 job..bad mistake, but it was a job, this was back in 1992 in fact. the o/o had a spanking brand new Pete 379, 425 CAT, 15 sp trans. he always had his trucks dyno tested to see the top speed, and these were in the days of non-governed trucks. he would then number his trucks by the top speeds.

the new 1992 Pete, was numbered @ 112 mph.

the 1986 Western Star, had miles on her, was numbered @ 108 mph...

other drivers here can also add thier top speed trucks back in the days.

100 mph, was what many did........

but then too, long before the CDL, many driver's had MANY different licenses, to show the cops and one would NEVER show the cop his home state license...

    ah yes...the good ole days....

Paying taxes does not mean you are contributing to society by the way.

I remember when I though $700 was a significant amount of money..
Anyway, if you're a company driver for Prime, you should be taking home a BARE MINIMUM of $1,000/weekly.
That should actually apply to any trucking job. It's the reason we're not working at McDonalds, lol.
My very first paycheck at Prime was $700. I was a company driver doing Northeast-Regional. I was ecstatic about that $700 because I didn't really do any real work yet.

I believe you are talking about the 700.00 per week for training correct? Which they are paying you .14 cpm. Now this is after you do your 3 day orientation go out for your 70 to 75 hours of road training then come back and test to get your cdl correct? Or do you already have your cdl?

You will go in for a week long orientation. During this week they put you in a hotel, their hotel. Your orientation will be fine at the hotel. They give you meals while you are there. After orientation you move to the PSD phase. This is where you start training to pass your CDL test. This phase can last 2 weeks to who knows. It's not based on the 70 hours clock anymore. It's more up to your trainer on when he/she thinks you're ready. During this phase you can draw on a $200 per week advance. Whatever money you take on the advance will be taken out of your future checks at $25 per week.
After you pass the CDL test you move into the TNT part. During TNT you will be running team with a trainer. You have to complete a minimum of 30,000 miles to complete this phase. 30,000 truck miles. So your trainers miles count towards this. Could be less miles if you have previous driving experience. During TNT you will be guaranteed $700 a week based on 14cpm for 5000 miles.

Prime is a great company. I don't think I could have picked a better place for me to start my career. Hope this is helpful.
