I'm not sure what the cause was, if was the economy or if they could get a newer driver to do my job cheeper. I can only guess, I did my jod with out complaning or without bothering my FM any trouble. But I can tell you this every company i call for a job doen't want to hire me. My driving record is clear my record as a driver was good, this has ruined my career.

How did that 13 mos. you worked for them go? Did you have to drive with a trainer? How long? Did you start of working cheap then move up to higher pay? what I'm trying to find out is if they canned you because they got to some kinda of high pay range.

Did they ask you to improve your mpg?

Actually, it sounds like he was with TRL for most of those 13 months. Prime is really watching fuel economy and, according to the Prime drivers' site, they are firing for low fuel mileage. It is one of the few things they can control in this uncertain economy.

To me this seems important to know about a company.

I havent heard of a single company that doesnt care what fuel milage you get. It is the nature of the business with this economy. Company Drivers have to be on their toes about fuel, its one of the few things they really hammer us on.

L/O and O/O, they dont have this over their heads, the more they burn, the more it eats the driver's profits.

Sounds like a crappy FM. My guy has layed it out for us, plain and simple. You get below 6.25 for the week, and you have a week to get it back up, if not you will be pulled in to have your truck turned down and analyzed for mechanical issue. If there is still a problem, your gone.

These trucks have engine sensors. Its amazing the wealth of info they can bring up about how that engine is being operated. Its almost like a spreadsheet... Example You spent a total of X amount of time between 1400 and 1500 rpm in 10th gear at this speed this week. (speed bands, rpm bands, gears etc)

They conduct a friday meeting every week, and the interesting part is when they compare two trucks... with similar loads and miles. And they show the difference in driving styles and which truck is blowing money out the stack. Drivers offer up their trucks for analysis, computer brings it right up and they get pointers.

They started hammering company guys when some yahoo had his truck brought up, and it was analyzed that he went max speed, didnt progressive shift, and over idled. He had such a non-chalant attitude, they asked him why didnt he care about the money he was losing out the stack. He piped up he was company and really didnt have to care, he didnt want to slow down for a few more cents a mile.

I will quote my fleet manager, "you will make at least 6.25 fuel milage or we will find someone who will. If you are struggling get with me and we can look at your numbers and figure out how you can get a handle on this. Your job depends on it."

    pawpaw Thanks this.

I was with Prime for 13 months. The company I worked for was bought last year. My truck was never ran through the shop or turned down , road assist knew of the problem with EGR in my truck but it was never checked. I have contacted a lawyer and they are going to look in to it for me. I've been driving for 19 years and never had a problem like this.

    My take on Prime is:

    DUH!!!

where have you guys been, under a rock? This stuff is well known and has been for years with this company. This is why they have had all the court problems that they have had!
