MIDDLEMAN I see why you have the I GOT SCREWED attitude , they set a GOAL that is possible to reach and the BENEFIT is that you get more $ it is very simple to understand , I did not post 1 thing and mean another.

Good luck on finding employment and I will reframe from replying to your posts from now on.

You have talked to a lot of prime drivers. These guys seem to be conditioned to say what ever makes prime look good. I too, have talked to a lot of prime driver's almost 40. They have predominately said they were getting around 6.5 + -. Few have said 7 mpg.

Things have mysteriously change in the last few months.

It was'nt just about 3 mos ago I was telling the guy who started that prime driver sight, that truck drivers driving the new Volov's were telling me that they were getting 7.25 mpg. He then ridiculed me saying that the drivers were lying and suggested that I was a fool for listening them. No bodies getting 7.25 mpg .......blah blah blah. Now we hear this guy saying you can to get 7.25 - 8 mpg? :biggrin_25526:

Whats going on? Was your prime d site guru wrong? :yes2557:

I would have to see the figures on that. 8mpg. Where I drive , we have daycabs with the small MBE(325) in them and they are governored at 60mph and we are not seeing mileaes that high.

I noticed that you live in Arizona, but yet you have talked to "some 40" Prime drivers about their mileage? Your chances of living in Arizona and even seeing 40 Prime trucks isnt even that good. I noticed that you dont even drive and you continuously comment about how a truck runs and drives, how would you know? For soemone that , according to their profile, is a "wannabe"--they are sure opinionated when it comes to something that they dont know much about.

I don't have an "I'm screwed attitude". What I am saying is I was screwed by one man that happens to work at Prime. I was getting good fuel mileage until my truck started running bad. They didn't check my truck or down lod the ECM.

its possible... to see 40 over a couple days... especially during the high produce production season... I counted 20 plus trucks heading into CA as I was heading out last June... you tend to notice your company brethren out there... now getting them all to stop at the same fuel point is even easier in Arizona because no one wants to have to fuel in CA unless they have to... And we all go to the cheapest stop in our network...

I understand we are under a hiring freeze of sorts... we arent growing for the meanwhile but will hire drivers to replace ones that leave. (or fired)... thats the rumor.

If I can find a scanner I will scan my d-dec readout of the truck I had it shows mpg, average speed, hard brakes etc. It shows where for a month straight I was averaging 7.5 mpg. It will go up and down but it depends on the freight your pulling, speed and terrain such as hills or if its got a good headwind that will knock mpg down alot. 8 mpg is achievable but not like to average that.

What does the company say that you did?? You do know that if you are caught in any kind of traffic that your fuel mileage starts dropping. Just because that little roadranger computer says that you are doing that, doesnt mean that you are averaging that. If you pull a reefer there is no way that you are averaging that, since you are automatically about 3000 lbs heavy and you are usually loaded at maximum and a lot of times over(at least when I pulled them that's how it was) In order to get 8mpg, you would have to shut your truck off at every stoplight, shut it off during ever traffic jam, never run the heater or a/c(which pulls down your fuel mileage dramatically),never drop out of road gear, ect. Like I said--I dont beleive it. Even the manufactureres say you cant do it, especially with these new engines since they are set up to be environmentally correct and whenever you do that you loose the mpg factor.

I am not trying to be rude by asking the following questions, but I have talked with drivers at Prime and other companies and when these kind of claims about no pay come up it is often found that there are underlying issues at hand because other drivers ARE making money. So one needs to determine, why are others making money and you are not?

How much has been taken out in advances? How fast are you driving? How many loads have been turned down looking for a better one? Have you taken advantage of all the training Prime makes available to help you succeed? Have you sat down with your Fleet Manager to see what might be changed to make things better? How much time is the left door open?
