Prime isn't going to twist your arm or do tricks to get you to lease a truck. They will ask you if you want to go lease or company and that's it.

Yes, there are some bad areas they don't hire company drivers from, it's not a trick to get you to lease. Andrea is probably at home for the weekend so you'll probably find out on Monday.

I've run into a couple of drivers that went lease because there were in bad areas like northern MI. Seattle is easy to get to but hard to get out of, it's just one of those places.

Doesn't Washington state have a lot of produce heading back east and considering Prime is a reefer outfit...

Maybe Contract Freighters will hire you. It's a dry van company that advertises in 48 states. CDL training is provided.

I still think it's ridiculous on both parts. Just because a company can get a new driver to pay their bills doesn't mean they should. It means a dollar is more important than a person to this company.
Remember there are hundreds , probably thousands of companies do not offer leases. Hmmmmm, wonder why that is?

Alright! I got an email back, Prime is processing my application now with a note of my understanding that home time back is Seattle will be difficult. Andrea said we can make it work! However this only works out for me because I have no obligations in my home state, if anyone else gets the lease op only answer and you have a family you need to come home to, it likely won't work for your situation.

Prime is in Washington for sure, I passed about 5 trucks just yesterday on I-90. It's probably some logistics issue that I don't yet understand like there's no approved safe spot to drop truck or trailer for a few days, etc.

I'm about to call CFI now @Chinatown, thank you for the rec! The recruiters were off for the weekend so had to wait until today. I saw their hiring map didn't include Washington/Oregon/Montana but I will confirm!

Sorry for the late response! I couldn't bring it up on their site either but I found it on some job listings and news articles. This is the info I found and CFI confirmed to me they don't hire out of Washington-

    "
    Hiring Area
    • Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin"

I didn't go through the process of asking about declining home time in Washington for the sake of being hired since I have now been accepted to Primes student driving program! I'm just waiting on Social Security to send me a replacement card so I can have all my documents together before I go

OK, good, it's working out for you. You can do ok with Prime and after your obligation is complete, if you decide to make a change, there's plenty of companies to choose from.
