Thats kind of what I was thinking, because they asked me at the testing station if I needed to test for any additional endorsements and I said no. But after the fact it occurred to me that I would need a hazmat endorsement. Just wasn't sure if that was something I needed on the temporary permit or after getting the license. I did a google search too which pretty much seems to confirm what you've said from what I read.

Yeah. It is not necessary to start training with but recommended at some point after you go solo. Gives you access to additional loads
RandyPud Thanks this. -
Awesome, thats all I needed to know. Thanks Jayhawker

You need to get the tanker endorsement as well as hazmat. The 190 gallon palletized liquid containers require a tanker endorsement now.jayhawker_1012 Thanks this.

*For Once Im not starting anything*
Is this absolutley true?? I just hauled some last week and nobody said nothing!!

Yup. FMCSA changed the licensing requirements last year... go search the OOIDA website for a story about it. It doesn't take 100% effect until 2013 I think, but it depends on the state. Texas is already ticketing for not having the proper endorsements. The newbs need to get the tanker and hazmat endorsement though.

So right after I get my comercial class A drivers license in my hand I should go get my hazmat and tanker endorsements? Or do I need to get those with my temporary permit to be able to drive?
