Cool, so running reefer is there really more down time once you get to your drop location waiting to be unloaded? And what about cleaning out the trailer after each load?

Depends on how you plan the trip, stuff that happens on the way. Generally speaking, I haven't sat on many loads for very long, but it does happen.

Company policy is to washout the trailer after every load at the company's expense, but again, that depends on circumstances, if there's a washout nearby, etc. Its handy to have a broom with you in case you're pressed for time.

So do you feel its better to get my CDL from a school around where I live and then go to Prime, or just do everything through prime?

Most of the folks who have gone through the PSD program at Prime are very happy with it. You might want to check out the threads in this folder...

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/prime/

There are a number of folks who are going through the program or slated to go posting in there.

Advantages to going to Prime for training include a lot more active driving time in real situations - not just the usual you get from a driving school. Also, after you are solo-qualified if you drive for a year with Prime the tuition is completely forgiven. Your local driving school is going to charge something like $4,000 - $6,000 for that.

I went through the PSD program, it is very good. Went from no experience, no CDL, never been in a rig. Now I have actual experience, a CDL, and can drive a big rig safetly. Im now in the TNT phase of training.
