After 3 "light" loads and bobtailing around Indiana for a trailer, the macro 27 computation was skewed heavily on my 8.76 mpg and was a real shocker for this 2700 mile trip at nearly 79k gross.

At 3/4 tank starting in Atlanta, it wants me to get a 121 gallons in Mt. Vernon, IL... Then fill up in Wamsutter, WY on my way to my 90 south of Portland OR on I5

 

Has anyone ever bought a truck from Prime? any info would be great thanks

 

I know a number of folks who have. They are usually 3 to 4-years old, 500 to 750,000-miles or so when the tractors are rotated out of the fleet.

 

Got a quick question for you prime drivers. First off, had a driver in the school today for recertification, was saying that prime has almost no company drivers. that they almost insist on a driver being an o/o. after the 6 month training period. How true is this?

Also how long after "training period" can i expect to wait to get a "company" truck.

Frankly I had made the decision that i will not buy or lease a truck until after 5 years behind the wheel. Figure that will give me ample time to know whether or not this is what i can do for the rest of my life.

First rule, most other drivers are full of crap... There are plenty of company drivers at Prime.

Ive been a company driver for over 3 years... There has never been any pressure to lease a truck.

Don't worry... we understand. There are plenty of jerks out there with total Bravo Sierra Prime stories. Plus many places are an absolute rip-off when it comes to leases or lease/purchase plans.

I drove on the company side for nearly three years... never heard one word about leasing a truck. Decided to jump over to the lease side on my own because the numbers looked good, and it was a natural point to do so when my last truck was called back in. So far, its worked very well for me... makin' more money than I was on the company side.

actually i like the idea of having my own truck. but as i said, until i know for certain i can do this. will not be putting out that kind of money.
