Yea, I guess you take into consideration on everything you can make it. I just don't want to lease then not get miles and there for can't pay bills. I'm a single guy no kids and I don't have a house or anything so really by the time i go I will have some school loans to pay off but no other bills. Only way I would enter a lease is if I feel comfortable about the business in a way I know I can make the money. I'm just hoping I don't get a pink cascadia or something if I do company driver for prime haha.

My advice would be to get a trainer that is leasing... I did, and got to see how much the driver is involved and show me a few things... Its something I know I wasnt ready to do with my level of experiance. I went company to get some miles under my belt... The training miles are good but you will still deal with situations on your own that would never come up given any amount of training. Any lease guy can train a company driver.. a company driver trainer cant really show you the extra stuff the lease guys do.
I would say I come accross a few situations a month now after 5 months on my own versus everyday or weekly.
Example, Never came through a Terminal with a load when needing repairs... Had plenty of time to make delivery, was good miles and was afraid they would hand it off to someone else... nope, only if the repairs held me up long enough not to make my appointment.
Last month, it was snow... told how, read how, delt with dustings late last spring... Learned that if the trucks ahead of you gets stuck in the shippers holding area, then thats probably not the place to park. (No, I didnt learn the hard way.... but others drivers were ####y and making claims about how great theeir trucks were and paid a price)corysti and BubbaTrucker Thank this. -
I have been talking to them. They want me to call back after the beginning of the year. Im not sure if I wanna leave my ol lady that long. I figuired that if I get 6 months exp with them i could prolly get something local. Where I'm at there is so many local/regional companys around. Not sure what to do.

EXCELLENT information. Thanks. Like I said, it has been a few years since I went through the training program, and I am sure it has changed. I do think I suffer from "halfzeimers" disease... it's not ALL the time, just half the time!
