So you want someone to "care" about you? Sounds like you're lookin for "mama" not a business partner. Its your job to care about yourself in this world.

Well, yeah... you did sign a lease on a truck that requires a weekly payment. I've heard that most contracts are required to be honored by all parties who signed it.

Junk? I have an '07 Century that's nearing 400,000 miles. It could use some shop time, but has been an excellent-running vehicle. So let me ask you... did you bother having the ECM downloaded so you could at least see if it was a decently performing machine before you signed your life away? And if it was such a junker, why did you climb into it in the first place?

So you're describing the yearly downturn in freight (that happens every year) after the xmas season. Then there's this thing called "the worst recession since the great depression." Or did you miss that?

Bet you were using those settlement checks as paychecks rather than cashflow into your business.

Not my experience. I run as hard as I want, and rarely sit long enough to get a restart.

Weekends are always slow. It's like the worker bees of the world think that they can take two days off... imagine that. People take two days off, nothing comes out of the factory - might be why there isn't a whole lot of freight around. Good time to get that restart so you can run real hard next week.

So where did you turn it in at? If you didn't give them notice at your home terminal, then dropped the machine off at another terminal, then yeah, they're justified in doing that. Check out dacfix dot com.

Well exactly where do they stash these warm bodies? They got a freezer full of them or something? Of course, there is the small matter of thousands of laid-off drivers needing jobs.

If Prime broke the terms of their contract with you, then you should go speak to an attorney. They can't break the terms of a contract, and neither can you. If Prime did, you have a reason to sue in court. OTOH, if your experience is because of your own mismanagement and unrealistic expectations, then maybe you should look at yourself for a bit before you get yourself in trouble again.

So you did $4000 damage to a tractor, and the company is supposed to pay for it? Or did you just do a really piss-poor job of inspecting the vehicle before you signed it out?

Well I posted Early on in this thread, I am leasing with another company and the fixed costs are 1/2 of what we had a Prime 2 years ago. --- Prime drivers who are currently leased have this brainwashed mentality of defending prime, what i am wondering is how in the hell if i was such a bad businessman and failed at prime, could i be leasing with a company which has a much better rep than prime, is larger, and be taking home a really decent profit each week.

when i posted before things were going ok, then we started having loads that payed ####, if we refused a cheap load we sat, after 5 weeks without being in the positive we drove the truck back to Springfield and gave it to them, they say i owe em $7000 but they aren't going to get it.

People can defend Prime all they want but they are scammers, they brainwash the drivers, try going to orientation and start disputing what they are saying, you will most likey not be there after the next break (we saw that happen).

Stay away from Prime at all costs

I would guess that if you dug deep enough you can find someone who feels they got screwed by the company that you are working for. Every company has good and bad stories. It just depends on which side you are on.
I got screwed by the company that I was working for. I was making the most money, had the most experience, and was the only one that really cared about making it a professional, respected HVAC Service Company.
As bad as I know that company is, there are many that are very happy there.
I can choose to be angry and go around and tell everyone how messed up they are, or I can go forward and quit looking back.

I would also venture to say that you have not done everything correct in your life. So should we did everything up and just keep pounding on you?

If people are happy at Prime then why are you so intent on trying to make them unhappy?

I have been reading all of the posts, both Positive and Negative since I got laid off in September. I approached it with an open mind.

I am going to be going to Prime the second week of January.
Do I expect it to be perfect? No. But I know if I go in with the right attitude, It will be a positive experience.

When you are angry at someone or something, it does not hurt the other person or thing at all. It only hurts you and effects your spirit!
Try forgiving and moving on. You will be much happier!

    God Bless!:biggrin_25525:

Well, if you want to hear what Prime drivers really think before you go for broke, why don't you ask the drivers out there. Because I can assure you you will rethink your decision.

My husband and I have been team drivers for Prime for 2 years now and while we personally have had great weeks most of them have been so so. We've only been negative four times, but in my opinion once is one time too many.

We've purchased a truck, signing the docs over Thanksgiving and will be retaining an attorney to assure our dac stays spotless as we head out.

Unfortunately the earlier guy's story is far too common. Good luck!:biggrin_2552:

Ok, let's say this. We are a team so we move. We have several weeks that we ran 5800 miles, but then we paid $600 to Prime for the priviledge of doing that. That translates to those who can't figure simple math, as being negative.

What is the point of driving just to owe Prime money?:biggrin_25510:

If you had the right "attitude" you would not even consider working for Prime. But good luck.

PS when your luck runs out please come back and let us know how that attitude thing kept you from crashing Primes truck through the railing of the nearest 500ft cliff.:yes2557:

I've not read the entirety of this thread.
Just want to post my step-son's experience with Prime, their "school", and "training".
Yes, at 25 years old,he attended Prime's "school"...was put up in a crappy hotel in Springfield, with one meal a day provided for him at the hotel(which was breakfast)
. They knew he came there with no money...so EVEN during orientation, and training, he was given vouchers for the cafeteria.
He got three squares a day. He got a warm/cool place to sleep at night.

YES,in return, he signed two years of his life to them...but,he also has been a L/P through them. He gets to take time off WHERE he wants to...pretty much WHEN he wants to.

In Feb.his obligation to Prime will be up.He will then be free to choose to be either a company driverfor a different company, or choose to be an L/P for another company.

Yes, the closer he gets to his contract with Prime ending, the crappier his miles get. But,as he says, "I've stuck it out this long..."

I'm not going to owe Prime any money. I won't be signing a LEASE with Prime. I don't have dollar signs in my eyes and unrealistic expectations in a monumental recession.

I will make the smart move and go Company... relatively steady miles and a relatively steady paycheck.

Starting any kind of business in this economy is not a good idea... to say the least. Especially when a driver can't manage his money or his business. By the way, I would like to hear how you can have "several weeks" that you run 5800 miles and end up owing $600.

how in the hell do you run for five weeks without being in the positve!
That mwans that you most likely drove less than 2000 miles a week and if you drove less then your fuel expense would have been way less

it sound like you did nothing for 5 weeks and was unhappy about how you got paid!

what the hell is cheap freight? the only way you can have cheap freight is if your on percentage!

get back with me on this plz!!!
