Man he seams smart. I'd love to drive for a guy like that. And yep, when you do something all your life it's tough to stop.

I was talking to him on the phone one day. I would call him when I was rolling thru his neck of the woods to see if we could meet for coffee. He was picking up potato chips and they was still making them. His truck was making 100 some bucks an hour for detention. He knows what he is doing. That is for sure. Years ago my wife and I was going to team when we first got married. He was going to have us running CA and back. He had his trucks leased on to baylor back then. His truck was running NYC at the time. He was banking good money. No one wanted to go there.

I had not seen him in a long time. We both got in for our grandmothers funeral in 1986. Then my wife and I seen him in 1991. I just ran into him about 3 or 4 years ago at a truck stop. Since then we have met 4 or 5 times. I am no longer OTR and we live in different states. Probably won't see him again. We talk from time to time. He really wants out of trucking, but does not know how to do anything else.

 

I had an accident that does not show up on my DAC because it was not my fault. The accident pushed everything back to my steers and even though it wasn't my fault I still had to pay for a flight to Springfield, pay for my lodging in the city, pay for taxi's etc. Bottom line I was about 1500.00 in the hole and they did nothing about it so I left and found another job. This happened in 2003 so I cannot speak for them now but I do know how they were back then.

 

I just got off the phone with just now. He has been running out more lately. Is in TX right now. Been running OK and KS some too. Told me he had a good week. Made about $4900, but after fuel more like $3500. He does not always do that well, but knows what he is doing. The money is there. Sometimes you just have to scrounge for it.
