if it's listed as a tax, that money MUST go to the government.

Did I miss something? This is a thread on Prime and now we are talking about Celadon? Someone needing this Celadon information might miss it being it is in a Prime thread.

someone suggested celedon after the prime complaint and I should have started another thread, but anyway the tax answer is what I got from the payroll lady in orientation and thats was her response, I clearly gave my opinion in class how the company was usuing it as a tool to imbezzel money from inexperienced drivers and getting away with it, but it is against the law what they are doing , I got up and walked out, found out 18 more left the next day after they saw more bull crap than I did, and as for the owner of celadon, I thought it was funny how he copied the Ed Koch former mayor of new york, way of speaking. LOL

I got to thinking about that 'tax' thing...

so I looked. Yup - if it's listed as a tax, that money absolutely HAS to go to the government.

If I'm and O/O and they do my payroll / taxes etc for me, I can see paying the company a small service fee. Note the use of the word 'small' here.

If I'm an employee and they want to charge me to do payroll, they can kiss me where I sit.

HR/payroll is part of the cost of doing business - you do NOT pass it along to the employees. Gods, if I'd done that, my business would have folded years ago! (No, it's still there, I just don't work there any more).

Next thing you know, they'll be passing along the cost of the utilities at the terminals.

Im Sorry But I Cannot Agree With You About Prime. My Husband And I Drove For Prime And Made Really Good Money With Them. Yes Our Fleet Manager Was A Prick, But Whos Isnt. We Where Making That Truck Payment And We Told Him What We Wanted To Do If We Didnt Want To Do What He Said. It All Worked Out So Well We Are Going Back In 1 Week. We Only Stopped Working For Them Because My Parents Needed Some Help Not Because Of Prime.
As For Going Home, We Go Home When We Want To Not When Our Fleet Manager Want Us Too.

The company itself may be sort of tolerable to work for, but no lease program is worth a second look no matter who it is.

Somebody help me out here. It has been said that drivers at Prime can make $1,500.00 plus a week. (I have interviewed over 20 who say this also). There are also statements that say a driver has to stay out 4-6 wks at a time, and more, if you expect to make this kinda money? I don't get It?

If you make $1,500.00 a wk. or $6,000.00 a mo. (which is hard to swallow). Why would you not be able to take off at least one week out of the mo., leaving one, a driver (L/O), with the small sum of $4,500. 00 a mo. The costs per week, (the lease is still gonna cost you), are $800.00 to a $1,000.00 a week. Since you have to pay this you have to take it out of your $4,500.00. leaving you $3,500.00. The lease payment doesn't stop because a driver stays home. My point is $3,500.00 is still pretty good.

    Addition:

Take the $6,0000.00 subtract one weeks profit of $1,5000.00, because your staying home for one week; this leaves you $4,500.00 instead of the $6,000.00 you would have made. OK. Now, then because your paying roughly $1,000.00 a week for the lease you take that off $1,000.00 that you have to pay for the lease from the $4,500.00 and you have $3,500.00 for the month. Remember you have to pay the lease payment when you stay home for the week.

Does Prime give you crappy loads for the first, second, and third week, then give you gradually better loads as a driver gets closer to the forth, fifth, and finally you get the great load that tops off your $6,000.00 payoff. How the heck does this work??????? Does something stink here?

Would you rather work for someone who pays $.39 a mile x 2,500 miles a wk. = $975.00? Or better yet .42 a mile after a yr, for $1,050.00. And they pay every week. I would rather make the same money every week, than work for no money, or little money for the first few weeks, Then mysteriously make good money after being out 4-6 weeks. Sounds like a game, the carrot on the stick game. :biggrin_25526: If this is how it goes!!!!!!

ok if you got 1,500.00 per week times 4 weeks minus the expences at 1,000.00 per week he would only get about 2,000.00 after expences for the whole month of driving.
I can make more than that at company driving for 3 weeks
