You have to have trucks in the first place in order to lease them out, you might find a few in fantasy land

The funny thing is with a payment of $1150/week any competent lease operator can hit the break even mark in 2 days. I don't know what prime's system is like rate wise but from what I've seen 1.50-1.60 is obtainable (with fuel charge included).

Assuming I got 2800 miles a week I'd easily net $1700-$2500 with that payment. Personally I'd like that figure to be higher, and I also don't like the idea of someone else dispatching me unless I knew they were competent, but if someone has business sense they'll make it work.

And if someone wanted to go out and get private financing versus paying what is effectively loan shark rates at these mega leasing companies then good luck with that.

    darthanubis Thanks this.

The company I haul freight for has about 75 leased trucks on his fleet, I can assure you the owner is not "dumb".

He explained to me one day at lunch that he's crunched the numbers every which way, and for him, leasing trucks with full maintenance mileage contracts works best for him financially.

He doesn't look at the trucks as an investment in the traditional mindset of pay it down to sell in the future to recoup money paid out. He views them as another tool in the box that gets the load from point A to B with as few breakdowns and as minimal additional revenue from his cash flow as possible. Utilize the maximum depreciable return, dispose of in a few years and do it again.

He's been doing it for years, very successfully I might add ;-)

Yep, the sound of those trucks crashing one after the other is sickening. There's one common theme with every one them that did though. They were going too fast for the conditions.

Oh I don't drive for him now. But in that particular gig, you could net $2K week before taxes. But you will run.
Your figure for owner ship of a truck is $225K WEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
    Yes I'm the ignorant one.LOL
He will sell at $110K, 2 years old
So let's say your 3rd year lease and buyout is $125K
    That's $15K
    Dude probably makes $10K a truck, that's $25K
And your boy that sell them to him probably make $10K on it, so that's $35K.
    Try the fruit punch flavor.
I won't try to reason with the followers of the Kali Mar , that have drank the blood, but it may not be too late for others.
Oh down at the local Freightliner, they hundreds, maybe thousands, old Prime trucks just like this,
Guarantee you walk in with cash and good credit, you drive one away in the $90Ks.
Be safe drivers, had my noodles, heading for the Feathers for the night.

    Cuban_P and Rex012 Thank this.
