So how much does your trainer think he will be a making week that your 35% will come out of?

I'd ask to see his settlements - and not just one week. It's easy to cherry-pick a great week, rather than looking at the entire picture for say at least a month. A lot of how this works will depend on how efficiently he's running his truck. Total deductions/expenses divided by the gross revenue should be not greater than 0.8 for a well-run truck over a given month.

I would recommend that you ask for 0.25 per mile, and that's it. All this % stuff brings in issues that you won't want to deal with, as well as could jeopardize your arrangement with the driver. Prime can change your cents per mile once you go through upgrade. Don't buy that crap about .12cpm. Teams are making between 0.22 and 0.25 per mile.

25-cpm on 5000-ish miles a week isn't bad change.

I would hire a team and put them in a truck.

Thought has crossed my mind. Have an idea and want to try it out. Gotta find the "just right" driver or two.
