Get a job yet Skunk?... still trying to find that perfect job where you can do whatever you want and tell everyone else to shove it where the sun dont shine?
Or is you resume holding you back because you cant stick with a company for more than a few months. (insert your sob story excuses)
You keep rearing you head and spouting your crap, and I keep throwing your previous posts in your face.... You've cried and asked me to stop... I'll stop when you stop. -
Sorry you had a rough time Recon. The "old man" has always been pretty nice to me, although Ive never had to get into any serious discussions with him.
Ive spent over 3 days at the Pittston terminal during the last week and talked to quite a few L/O. Hardly any complaints out of most of them.
One guy brought up the issue about PrePass charges for green lights at CLOSED scales. He's working with his fleet manager and the higher ups at logging each specific case and they are taking the issue up with Prepass to get the the charges re-imbursed.
The re-occuring thing is the Fleet Managers make a big part of the difference... in my opinion from the discussions.
The level of difficulty of getting a different varies greatly too. One guy had to jump through hoops and raise hell to "fire" his... other guy claimed he walked in "fired" one and picked another right away as the new guy was the "tallest, meanest looking guy in the room". Only diffrence I could tell between the two stories is the hoop guy drew his out our over a long period of time on the QC didnt do it face to face... and the other dropped it like a sneak attack on the guy with facts and figures in front of everyone in the room.
Im a company driver. I listen and hear it from both sides (L/O who are doing good and ones doing bad) For the life of me, you put them guys in the same room together and neither one seems to be able to "key in" why one or the other is in the position they are in other than typically boils down to "I love" or "I hate" my dispatcher. -

I have left Prime a long time ago. All my settlement sheets are in storage now. SO I cannot prove it at this moment either, but he is telling you the truth. You pay a mark up on the service plus a green light fee. And thats just the tip of the iceburg. By settlement time there are so many oddball charges the last thing you are concerned with is the $10 or so over payment on pre pass.Injun Thanks this. -
i know leasing isn't a game that is easy to do with the way loads are paying. my dad told me a long time ago (he was an o/o for 44 years) you need 2 things to start a business... capital and credit. most of those getting stuck in the leasing game have lousy credit and/or insignificant or NO capital. (sorry, $1000 against what a typical truck that meets prime specs costs is insignificant.) you'll get stuck in a deal where they charge way over the market rate for truck payments and startup costs, and then nickel and dime you over small stuff on every load.
Business is a risk/reward proposition. If you assume more risks, you have the POTENTIAL to make more, but in a deflationary freight environment, you have the deck stacked against you in a bad way.allycatt2 and RAILSPLITTER Thank this. -
Well said, "whodat54321!" Very well said, and one of the reasons why I haven't owned my own truck in past years... even when they couldn't give 'em away back in the day, "Roger?" Hey, are you from Nawlins, hand? I'm just curious, with that "Who Dat?" handle of yours, 10? I was down there after Katrina hit, and those FEMA trucks were finally streaming in... (late, of course, but that's government for ya). Anyway, thanks for the enlightening post... many new drivers get sucked into those "lease-to-own" truck scams, and it's good to see your well-written post here on this site. Okay, that's my little spiel, I'm outta here... "Adios!!!"

U2 its my understanding that the times your PP is charged on a closed scale is mainly when they have the weigh in motion. They say they charge you because the scale is still actually active and recording so if you pop an overweight they will mail your ticket to the company just for you...lol go figure.

Im a company driver, never see the bill, and let Prime deal with any unessecary charges against them by PrePass. -
Dr. Zebra wrote about that on the old site... according to him, some of the state DOT guys don't shut down the prepass computer properly when the scales close, so you had to keep track of the "greens" at closed scales. Prepass charges you a base price and a small "per-green-lite" charge - Prime just passes that along - not sure if they add a handling fee. He also said that if you sent that information to your payroll person, Prime didn't have a problem getting those dollars back from prepass for you.
Can't say whether the state was picking up part of the charge from prepass, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. If a driver doesn't stay on top of it, you'll get nickel-and-dimed to death...
And the jacked-up states that do that score some cash from inattentive drivers and companies that don't keep score.
