So classes were good today, Sexual harrasment, Qualcom/elogs, safety, permits, hazmat, health INS,and road assist. Was told by Don Lacy(Safety dept head) that the company is gonna be changing the fuel mpg goal to 8 mpg. Seems nutz to me. Met Flatbed dispatcher today also, was told i could expect a lot of loads to the Pacific N West, so that a good thing. Tomorrows somewhat of a shortday, and depending on whether a trainer is available, i could be OTR tomorrow or Sat. But who knows with this weekend being a holiday, could be Monday. WE shall see.

8 mpg is a pipe dream. It's dependent on so many things you can't control, (terrain, weight, even equipment).

Right now, we're running flat terrain with 40k lbs of wood product on a POS Passport flatbed trailer, 56mph, 92% cruise, and 89.7% top gear and BARELY getting 6.6 - 6.8 mpg...

Won't happen with this equipment and load. Sorry.

Now we HAVE gotten about 7.5 fully loaded with pipe going thru the nasty hills of Pennsylvania, but it took some creative driving. At one time, we were as low as 6.2.
