On another note, I had the understanding the dispatchers and drivers were a team. I have had this dispatcher since i started TNT, and now 1 week being Solo. But seriously everytime I talk to the guy it seems like he is pist off at the world and im just bothering him. So far he has kept me running constantly, with an average wait time on load assignment maybe being 15 min, so i cant complain about his skillz of doing his job, but maybe a little work on his people skills would be nice. I dunno, maybe i just need to quit being such a weenie and grow some thicker skin.

When I read your comment at the end of your post about your FM's attitude, I expected IP or U2 to comment. It's my opinion that you should deal with that problem ASAP - but I'm still a student, none of my previous life experience has any application to the trucking world. I need a year of OTR before my opinion counts. :)

How often are you calling him? He might be annoyed that you are not using your QC and clogging his phone line from the more important stuff.

I may go weeks without talking to my FM on the phone.

It's work, I don't need a buddy... My FM is buddy enough if he keeps me moving and solves the problems I can't solve myself first.

FMs aren't social directors. Some are more outgoing than others, but you should keep the chitchat limited and on the QC. They are busy, and are at work.

OTOH, the isolation and boredom can be oppressive out here. A lot of guys don't make it through the first year because of this. Get yourself some interests that you can use to stoke yourself with in the truck... reading, DVDs, TV. You should try to build yourself a network of folks you can communicate with as well.

Yeah the boredome doesnt bother me at all. I only called my fm when I thought (keyword I) it was important( like him sending me a request for the PO # so he can schedule delivery times)( I was like wtf is a PO# that has to do with delivery times? Maybe he should have asked for order numbers instead), and as far as the QC goes, its hard as hell typing on that small keyboard when your driving down the road, and who wants to stop everytime a msg needs to be sent. Im working on building up a list of peops I can talk with while out here on the road. Thanks for your input guys.

Having a few people to talk to does definitely help make the day go by better.

I use qc as much as possible it seems easier to get in contact w/my fm that way he reponds faster and it beats waiting on hold if i have issues ill notify him thag way and if a phone call is nec. he usually calls me

As for the time issue try not to be late 2appts especially those where cranes are involved(fm stresses that) and remember other drops can be rescheduled even though we dont want that to be done

So today worked out great so far. This morning I was able to drive the 1 1/2 miles to my 03 without starting my drive clock. Yeah I stopped halfway, shut down the truck and finished the rest. So now sitting at my 90 with 8 hours of drivetime left, and I have already made 2 drops before this. Shiat hot if you ask me.
