Some people around here will tell you that ball grabbing is Prime's gift to you when you sign a truck lease...

Piss, Bld Pressure, Vision, Hearing, range of motion, lifting a weighted box... that kind of stuff. Very basic physical.

I got a question. Were/When do you decide which division you want to be in? Do you do your training then tell them or they give you current offers depending on where you live. Also if you decide to do the bulk division would you go with a trainer in that same division or just go with anyone?

You can make an election at orientation when you fill out the initial paperwork. However, things being what they are, choose reefer. More loads right now, and even when the economy is better there are many more trainers in the reefer division which will minimize your sitting around time. Not that there's much of that waiting for a trainer...

So can you explain exactly how the training program works

you get your cdl permit then you go over the road with another trainer for a certain amount of time right?

What if I get my cdl permit before i go to prime? Does that save time or really doesn't matter?

If you have your already have your permit then you save very little time in the overall scheme of things.

You get an extra good night sleep and thats about it. You wont have to study while others do. While they are taking their test you get to sit in classes with the new hires and maybe get a couple extra hours off that day. Classes that you will repeat (and entered in you official record) when you come back for your A seat upgrade after 60-80k

You are not officially hired until you get your CDL. It takes 3-5 weeks to test out.

The physical is the first day. Word on the street is they are cracking down and being a bit more selective by way of the physical. Specificly the BMI.

    Some basic requirements are:
    • Blood Pressure Levels: Less than 140 over 90
    • Eye Sight: 20 / 40 or better in each eye (With corrective lenses if needed.)
    • BMI (Body Mass Index): Must be less than 39
    • Hearing: Must be able to hear a forced whisper at 6 feet
    • Diabetic: Sugar levels must be well controlled without insulin required
    • Heart Related Issues: Must have special documents and may need recent specific tests
