No. You'll start as a C-seat, but you still have to drive 60k miles with a trainer before you can upgrade to A-seat.

There's a morning of paperwork to do - including filling out the same application you already filled out. You'll do the medical, urinalysis, and a very basic drive test - it was a few times around the training pad to see if you can shift when I did it. Make sure you double clutch the transmission - they look for that. They'll do the more in-depth look at your driving history - like all of the CDL trainees. Then it's the basic set of classes including a couple of easy tests, and you'll be on the road by the end of the week, if they find you a trainer.

    Good luck!

He was a lease operater and the economy hasnt been too kind to freight rates (profitability for lease ops) and freight availability (lease op guys can turn down loads and lately the next load can be a ways off or an even worse rate)

As the economy has gotten worse, Prime lease drivers have seen their profits go down. Alot of them would like to see some sort of relief in their truck payments, and it hasnt materialized. They got some sort of new layover pay policy for lease drivers... but I couldnt begin to explain it, and from what I hear its little if any help. There has also been pressure for Solo lease guys to take on trainees or a co-driver to run team and potentially increase their profitability.

Im a little familiar with where he is headed (unless his plans have changed) and the lease program there, from the outside looks pretty good. From what I understand they are a lease only company and only take drivers with over a year of experiance.

From what Ive read, its someplace I would look at if I ever decided to go Lease and it didnt work out at Prime. My experiance at Prime has been so positive, if I went lease, I would do it here first primarly because of my familiarity with the company.

I hope he comes around and lets us know how things go. I wish nothing but the best for him.

just to update all u future prime employees.. there are so many new students at prime to train that the hotel is full and they are sending some over to the oasis across the street.. there are (psd) prime student drivers that have been there for 4 weeks without even getting a cdl instructor assigned..this weeks class started with 100 new hires....so if ur going there soon be prepared to be away form home for atleast another month longer then u thought...

Yikes... on the wait time... The Oasis is the Premium Prime hotel (better)... Its actually a buisness open to the public as a normal hotel.
